The zoomed out view is completely black except for units.
Map preview also does not work.:(

imaca -> RE: Zoomed Out View Black (6/9/2014 9:31:57 AM)

Here is screenshot.
Obviously this makes the game unplayable.

Imaca, try this link:

http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/auto-detect-tool

Your graphics driver is from 2013. You should update it.

imaca -> RE: Zoomed Out View Black (6/9/2014 11:39:45 AM)

Thanks for reply, downloaded and installed autodetected best driver (14.4 mobility), but sadly made no difference.

v.Manstein -> RE: Zoomed Out View Black (6/9/2014 11:45:49 AM)

Did you install the latest driver for your graphics card? As mentioned, your graphics driver is dated from 2013.

imaca -> RE: Zoomed Out View Black (6/10/2014 9:25:54 AM)

Yep, AMD 14.4, as above.

VPaulus -> RE: Zoomed Out View Black (6/10/2014 10:53:30 AM)

Is the power supply plugged in when running the game or the laptop is on battery power?

Also I have noticed that you have only 243 MB of video dedicated memory. Please note that the game requires 256Mb minimum (512MB recommended).
As you are on the edge of game requirements, it's possible that you experience some graphic glitches.

SteveMcClaire -> RE: Zoomed Out View Black (6/10/2014 4:05:09 PM)

It sounds like your video card / driver is not displaying the scaled textures for the overview and minimap properly.

Please try running the game in Windowed mode if you are not already. You can change this in the 'General' tab of the Game Options dialog. The checkbox is right below the game resolution settings.

If that does not help, try changing the display resolutions to see if there is something specific to a given resolution with the video card/driver. You might also make sure your Windows desktop is using a 32-bit color screen mode, just to see if the desktop vs. game color settings is effecting it.

Steve

Hi, sorry have been busy, yes running 32bit mode (is it even possible to run 16bit in win7?), tried window mode, this seems to introduce more glitches (zoom icon disappears).
Hadn't noticed that directxdiag shows only 243MB, graphics memory is nominally 256Mb (not sure where the 13 missing Mb is hiding:))
However, GPU-Z shows only 141Mb used total when game running.
Is there any chance this could be fixed, or am I wasting my time?

Marder -> RE: Zoomed Out View Black (6/13/2014 7:17:09 AM)

There is a hotkey for zooming out btw?

Have you tried in Windowed mode but with a lower screen resolution?

This is not a problem we've seen on other machines, so I don't know exactly what's causing it. Given that there haven't been any other reports that I know of, I suspect it's something with your video card/driver.

I would suggest using the software for your video card to change settings and see if you can find something that effects the problem there.

Thanks, went into catalyst control centre, set anti-aliasing and ansiotropic filtering to "use application settings" and ...suddenly I can see the zoomed out view:), so again, thanks for help

Glad you were able to get it resolved imaca. Thanks for letting us know what worked for you.

zakblood -> RE: Zoomed Out View Black (6/16/2014 4:53:43 PM)

as these are the default settings of CCC in windows, either you have changed them and forgot, or another app / program has changed them, better to use profiles with CCC tbh
