Argh! I love using pirates for protection. That system if fine. But there needs to be a change to Pirates only capturing targets you give them to attack. It's really annoying in the early game to have a Pirate set up a gas/mine station right on one of your primary resource planets. So, when I don't have the strength to take it out and decide to have pirates take it out for me, I shouldn't just have the pirates capture it and now it belongs to them. Now I am in the same place I was, with instead of a functional pirate station on the planet I need, but a useless almost destroyed one that the Pirates will never repair!
