Reviews about Starship Troopers (the movie) in Finland call it satire. It seems finnish movie critics are smarter than american ones [;)] Satire or not, overall Starship Troopers - with all its faults (can't they bring any futuristic equivalents of Vulcan?) - is best scifi war movie I know. And the film analysis by Rob Ager has one miss: asteroid wrecked spacecraft's long range communications, yet guy seems to assume ship send report about it. [edit] Starship Troopers movie was started without any deliberate relation to the novel. Then somebody noticed similarities, movie name was changed, and script was modified. [edit2] I would also like to make comparison to All quiet on the western front: Recruiting in school (or so Rico's father says) - check Pro-war propaganda - check War is Hell - check
