Don't know if this is something that could be modded, but something that might improve the research game is adding diminiehing returns to lab productivity.

Looking around the forum I've seen quite a few people say its not worth trying to take advantage of locational research bonuses -- just keep the labs orbiting your homeworld. The added coat of a huge Spaceport is outweighed by the difficulty of protecting, managing and maintaining multiple research sites.

The basic idea is simple, nut I don't know if it's possible le: once past a certain number of labs on a givenase, each additional lab adds less and less to the research produced. Possibly even impeding the research at the labs you've already established.

Reducing the effect would in and of itself be a series of research projects.

Is this moddable?

Is it interesting?

I'm really enjoying the game (SteamNoob) and I thought I would register to ask about this.

Not moddable I believe, but if it was changed so that there'd be a max research per system it would stop players from hoarding all their labs in their capital.
