Gregorovitch55 -> Corruption - I need to put some stick about (6/12/2014 12:44:42 PM)

I am a democracy but my pampered citizens appear to be bent as corkscrews (I'm considering a Dhayut task force to teach the blighters some manners). My home world has zero corruption but my No 2 has 20% and No 3 has 47%! Ok these worlds are distant so I assume that corruption is relative to distance from seat of government but are those figures normal? (there are no pirate bases on them)

From the galactopedia there seems to be only two ways to deal with bent citizens: regional capitals and style of government. I have democracy (-15%) so is regional capitals (and absence of pirate bases) really the only way to reduce these figures?

There are a limited number of regional capitals available (3?), so:

1. can you dismantle them and move them later?
2. what effective range do they have and how does this fall off with distance?
3. what effect do they have in terms of % corruption reduction

1. yes

2. don't know for sure but the influence of a regional capital drop fast

3. the colony on which you have a regional capital has zero corruption and it influences (corruption wise) others nearby colonies the same way as your capital

Cheers. Good to know you can move regional capitals as your empire develops.

note that:
1) you can capture regional capitals from others empires (they are not destroyed, even if you have already reach the maximum)
2) the limit of regional capitals is the limit beyond which you cannot built anymore capitals, not the limit of capitals you can own.

I usually play with largest size galaxies and corruption becomes a real issue.

Was thinking about creating an expensive facility to combat corruption. GBI (Galactic Bureau of Investigation) ??

This might becoming unbalancing as corruption appears to be used as a brake on over-expansion.

Comments?

Well if you can have the same number of regional capitals in a small map as in the largest, that's obviously wrong - the number of regional capitals available should scale with the map size I would have thought.

Get the expanded/revamped tech tree mod, it adds a few extra regional capitals with more techs. Really helps.

That or live with the challenge as is. I too play on biggest maps; I have not found Corruption to be a show-stopper. A problem at times...

True enough; my core worlds at max capacity and 100% taxes usually put me to over 1 million credits per tick, so a bit of lost income is no big deal.

Yep, that's been my experience as well.

A noob question: what does corruption actually do to your colonies?

The corruption lowers colony revenue, and the revenue is what you tax.

So if a colony has a good 500k revenue and 50% corrupton, it is shown as 250k revenue.

If you tax 10% you get 25k each year or whatever. If you build a "regional capital" the corruption is gone, revenue rises to 500k, and the tax return (10%) becomes 50k.
