Vaevictis_386 -> Great game! (6/19/2014 8:44:17 AM)

I just wanted to say thanks, this is the best game I have played in a very long time. It's a breakthrough that takes wargaming to a whole new level.

Kado -> RE: Gret game! (6/19/2014 9:27:20 AM)

That's true, I just wish more people realized that. This engine has such a huge potential! I really really hope that one thay we will be playing Gulf War, Arab-Israeli Wars, Korean War or even WW2 battles in this engine!

CapnDarwin -> RE: Gret game! (6/19/2014 12:12:52 PM)

Thanks for the kind words guys. We hope to see the engine in many other theaters and times as well. Our biggest challenge is the fact that this effort is not our day jobs. We are doing what we can in our "free" time. We really like the game engine and we are working hard to make it better as we go. You will see some of this effort when the much delayed 2.04 update is released in the near future.

Spread the word about the game and we'll keep working on it. [:)]

justadude -> RE: Gret game! (6/20/2014 11:23:36 PM)

Are you serious? Your "free" time? That is quite a piece of quality work you put together in your "free" time.

Mad Russian -> RE: Gret game! (6/20/2014 11:29:54 PM)

All 4 of us have full time jobs besides working on FPC.

I probably have the most free time in the group, at the moment. Unfortunately, for the rest of you, I have the least amount of talent as well. [:(]

Good Hunting.

MR

demiller -> RE: Gret game! (6/21/2014 3:16:31 AM)

Not only is the game great, but I'll point out how much time all of the development team spends not just in this forum, but in several other wargaming forums as well to support the game. This is pretty clearly a second full-time job for this team.

CaptCarnage -> RE: Gret game! (6/21/2014 6:50:32 AM)

Dare I ask you out of curiosity what kind of fulltime jobs these Talented Four have? :)

kemmo -> RE: Gret game! (6/21/2014 5:11:34 PM)

CapnDarwin -> RE: Gret game! (6/22/2014 2:50:57 AM)

Rob is a programmer for a company in Toronto and I'm an aerospace engineer. And we all have families to spend time with too. [8D]

IronManBeta -> RE: Gret game! (6/22/2014 4:59:45 PM)

Yes, I have been doing a variety of corporate software development for many years - HR, medical office, engineering reporting, insurance office and now document management software for trial lawyers. I love to program - it is the ultimate creative outlet - but working on someone else's project can be a drag as the years go by. This game has been my fun project for many, many years now.

In terms of quality though I really have to credit Capn Darwin. We became partners in the game in 2005 and he combines very high standards with great diplomatic skills (as more recently do Charles and Mad Russian) so that he can keep saying 'this isn't good enough yet' and we can refine and polish without losing patience and giving up. If it was just me doing the work it would not be nearly as good as it is now. Also, beyond our immediate dev team of four there have probably been 50+ people who have given important feedback, criticism and support over the years that have vastly helped the game. Erik Rutins would definitely be one of those people and the friendly unwavering support of Matrix was critical to this project staying alive for so long.

Our plan is to continue development indefinitely and just keep making the game both wider and deeper without losing the special something that keeps it fun and accessible. If only there were more than 24 hours in the day we could do so much more, lol.

Thanks, Rob C

Um, I disagree about the talent part but he has us beat in modesty I think! Working with MR is a true pleasure and I couldn't image it now without him.

CapnDarwin -> RE: Gret game! (6/22/2014 8:23:15 PM)

I'll second Rob on the job Steve (MR) and Charles do for us. Without Steve we have a fancy game engine but no exciting scenarios to suck you into the action and narrative of the start of World War 3. Charles spend his time testing and reporting on the state of game play. If you are enjoying how the game plays right now and how well the AI and combat model works, that is his relentless efforts herding Rob and I (like herding cats) along with information and bug reports. It does take a well oiled machine to get this game going and out to you guys. I'm glad we have a team that hits all of the areas needed to produce this award winning title. [&o]

jack54 -> RE: Great game! (6/23/2014 6:40:28 PM)

Let's see... a high quality product with depth, a tremendous level of detail, An active AI that plays different each time, the best scenarios around, and product support that is second to NONE.

Yep... 4 sets of fingerprints are clearly visible.[:D]

Mad Russian -> RE: Great game! (6/24/2014 1:02:31 PM)

Thanks to all of you.

We did our best with the time we had. Hopefully we can continue to improve on the game/series.

Good Hunting.

MR
