Hi friends, im a green soldier, sorry if my question is too easy:) ,playing with allies i control guadalcanal but the japanese send every day troops or bombardement my base at the night.Any sugestions to stop them?...naval attack at night is dangerous for allied player...

Park an S-boat or two in the harbor. When the bombardment TF's come calling at night, a few torpedoes will greet them. And, if your base is supplied well, the sub gets to reload its torps after every shot :D.

Better yet, PT boats! You'll suffer losses, but they might get lucky and put a fish into one of the big Japanese ships. In my last PBEM game I managed to put torpedo hits into Japanese BB's twice, once badly enough to send it back to Japan.

These ideas are excellent, BUT-

Sooner or later, you've got to assert yourself with surface combat TFs. You may take the occasional lickin', but you gotta keep on tickin'. Your cruisers will get chewed up and you will have precious few battleships to commit, but D@mn Good Tanaka and company have got to be sent packing.

Work this in conjunction with your slowly growing superiority in CVs (at least, I hope you have that - if not, you're in a world of sh!t).

The idea is to work your way to a position of dominance in the Guadalcanal area, sea, land, and air. All elements have to contribute to the effort. Don't neglect to build Lunga into a major airbase, but your navy has to protect it in order for it to stay operational in the early going. Eventually, your air assets at Lunga make it possible for your ships to operate more comfortably in the area. Success with one element contributes to success in the others (and, of course, failure with one works a hardship on the others).

One last thing - Tulagi is definitely a secondary concern. The port is nice, but it contributes little else.

If Tojo is sending in nightly bombardment TFs then just send in your own , , , even if there are no Japanese enfantry units to bombard. Your ships will go to the hex designated and often engage in surface combat with enemy forces attempting to do the same thing.

Be careful about sending Surface Combat TFs as they'll be much more exposed to enemy air power. You would rather make the same run into the 'Slot' at night that your opponent is making.

(if you are one of my opponents you must forget this on the count of three. Ready? One, Two, . . . . .)
