CapnDarwin -> 2.04 Update for July 1st (7/1/2014 11:47:09 PM)

We are in the process of putting the files together and fixing one ugly last minute bug Charles located. I will be pdfing revised documents tonight for inclusion in the file package. Also working on getting the Tutorial Guide revamped as well. Given the short week with the 4th, we will fall into the Matrix queue next week if all goes well. As soon as we have a verified installer, we will let you guys know.

It's taken longer than we planned, but I think you will all enjoy the results.

Enjoy your week and weekend! [8D]

DoubleDeuce -> RE: 2.04 Update for July 1st (7/2/2014 10:23:01 PM)

So looking forward to this.

horse1974 -> RE: 2.04 Update for July 1st (7/3/2014 8:22:19 AM)

It will be the last upgrade?

CapnDarwin -> RE: 2.04 Update for July 1st (7/3/2014 1:54:02 PM)

Horse1974, yes in the sense of new or updated features. We will, if needed, deal with any major bugs that escaped detection during 2.04. The plan is to focus the teams efforts on the next game in the series. We will still be around here answering questions and taking down notes of good ideas from all of you guys.

Enigma6584 -> RE: 2.04 Update for July 1st (7/3/2014 5:00:07 PM)

Thanks for the update. Looking forward to this as well.

O.Schmidt -> RE: 2.04 Update for July 1st (7/3/2014 5:55:55 PM)

Thanks for the Update info!
what should be the theme in the new game?
Golan Height or WWII or...??

DoubleDeuce -> RE: 2.04 Update for July 1st (7/3/2014 6:23:35 PM)

The new game is the move to southern Germany correct?

CapnDarwin -> RE: 2.04 Update for July 1st (7/3/2014 6:42:24 PM)

Southern Europe. Next. After that we are thinking Far East and then mid-east and WW2 are up for debate.

Kado -> RE: 2.04 Update for July 1st (7/3/2014 7:18:28 PM)

Southern Europe? I also thought that it's going to be southern Germany. Now sir, I am excited twice as much! Best luck with your efforts!

Mad Russian -> RE: 2.04 Update for July 1st (7/3/2014 7:22:14 PM)

No less than Southern Germany. Whatever else the Good Capn puts in there I'll add battles and campaigns for.

I have no lack of ideas for battles/campaigns. We have just begun to fight!!! [:D]

Good Hunting.

DoubleDeuce -> RE: 2.04 Update for July 1st (7/3/2014 8:00:39 PM)

I'll be the first to admit that the thought of this game going WWII is exciting BUT, I really want the Cold War in Europe stuff fleshed out before anything else. [8D]

CapnDarwin -> RE: 2.04 Update for July 1st (7/3/2014 11:28:56 PM)

We do too. The idea is to cover as much of the Europe theater as we can in the 80s then move to a new region. Basically more areas and times then hours in a day to get to them all, but we'll try. [;)]

KageToraUK -> RE: 2.04 Update for July 1st (7/4/2014 1:18:31 AM)

I'd be very interested in the Arab-Israeli conflicts, as someone pointed out above, the Golan Heights, etc.

budd -> RE: 2.04 Update for July 1st (7/4/2014 3:01:04 AM)

i break out into a sweat of anticipation when someone mentions taking the game to WW2.....middle east sounds good......but how about giving the Korean War some love it's really an under represented arena.

CapnDarwin -> RE: 2.04 Update for July 1st (7/4/2014 3:07:04 AM)

I'm pretty sure Korea is in the far east...[:D]

budd -> RE: 2.04 Update for July 1st (7/4/2014 3:30:32 AM)

I'll take anything with east in it.....eastern front....middle east...far east.....and Korea [:D]

Have a great 4th of July on this great day....did I mention you guys are great!

I would invite you all over for a barbecue if you lived anywhere near me..so I reckon me I my dogs will have to make it thru the 25 pounds of ribs I'm smoking on the grill ourselves.

CapnDarwin -> RE: 2.04 Update for July 1st (7/4/2014 10:42:12 PM)

Thanks Sabre21. Enjoy the ribs. [sm=00000436.gif]

Files for 2.04 will get uploaded Sunday evening to be in the hands of Matrix for an installer build Monday. Just remember it takes a few days to get things put together and tested out before it goes live. Matrix will let everyone know when that is.

SpeedyCM -> RE: 2.04 Update for July 1st (7/5/2014 3:31:26 AM)

So looking forward to an Arab/Israeli Wars game, so few games set in that theatre it is sad.

Mad Russian -> RE: 2.04 Update for July 1st (7/5/2014 4:22:52 AM)

There is a reason the wars in the Middle East are few and far between. They suffer from the same issue that Russia in 1941 does. How do you make a game that is competitive when one side is so out classed. Over the years many have tried and few succeeded. These days there are almost none available.

Good Hunting.

DoubleDeuce -> RE: 2.04 Update for July 1st (7/5/2014 2:24:32 PM)

I am pretty sure, based on seeing how the OOB's are set up in excel spreadsheets and with my little bit of poking around that anyone with the time can create pretty much any OOB that they want, fact or fiction. The real hard work, IMHO would be appropriate maps.

Mad Russian -> RE: 2.04 Update for July 1st (7/5/2014 4:33:52 PM)

Depends on what you consider an appropriate map. If you want a Sat Map or a topo map representation those can get interesting. After you do 1 or 2 of them though they aren't bad. The graphics will never please everyone so just go with you make and it will be fine.

Good Hunting.

MR

DoubleDeuce -> RE: 2.04 Update for July 1st (7/5/2014 5:28:25 PM)

Appropriate as in desert terrain looking map to go with the custom Middle Eastern OOB's.[;)]

Mad Russian -> RE: 2.04 Update for July 1st (7/5/2014 7:50:16 PM)

Those could be done now with the units we currently have.

In fact, I think MikeAP could be working on something along those lines.

Good Hunting.

I was working on a modern OPFOR ORBAT - not so much Middle East specific. It is the same ORBAT used for the OPFOR at the US Army maneuver career course.

Since March I've taken a break from the game. The Sudden Death rule was making it impossible to win any offensive operation for the campaign I had planned.

I also took command of a company, so there's not much free time for anything anymore. Getting to play wargames in real life, with real people and vehicles is just as fun, though!
