Wasicun -> what is the best altitute to fly for a fighter? (7/2/2014 5:45:11 PM)

Ehy guys!
I really love this game, but i have a couple of questions.

1-What is the best altitude to fly with an F-22 (or F/a18 super hornet or F15C) when you are engaging? I think that the highest altitude gives you a small advantage in speed (and in fuel consumption)... so when is usefull to fly at less altitude?
Are you stealther if you are low ?

2-If i fly with an f-22 or f-35, what is the stealther approach possible to enemy territory? Is it to fly at very low and altitude (with every sensor/emitter deactivated) and at very low speed? Is it correct?

Thank you very much for your answers and sorry for my poor English.

There isn't really any manueverability advantage with altitude in Command. I'll stay high in most cases to exploit best speed and fuel consumption during a fight. In airspace contested by enemy SAMs I'll usually drop lower to try to stay out of LOS of SAM guidance.

Given how often fighters get into furballs in this game (and presumably would irl) this should be improved a lot, if what you are saying is true. It's a bit goofy for this scale, but at least half of my 1:1 ratio fights end up decided in dogfights.

To be sure, there are lots of turning fights in Command. Altitude can be useful in setting up or avoiding aerial gunnery (must be within a few thousand feet for guns) and to some degree can help against radar detection and possibly guidance of missiles fired from above. Also use the cloud deck to your advantage to keep from being visually spotted by a bogey as you approach (keep the clouds between you and him).

I'll just add for the OP about contrail based visual detection too... comes into play above 25k I think?
