Airpower -> Fighter bays don't count towards military power (7/3/2014 8:19:14 PM)

I have a gripe about the fighter bay techs. I love how the fighters swarm, and also how effective they are in combat, but using fighters has a huge drawback. Your fighter bays don't increase your empire's military power. This means that if you have 1000 ships with nothing but fighter bays in it, which would be a monstrously powerful army - the enemy AI's will look at your military power, see you in last place, and declare war on you.

This means that every time you put a fighter bay on a ship or station, you're increasing the likelihood that other races will declare war on you because they think you're weak.

This is pretty messed up, and I'd like to see fighter bays increase empire military strength rating. I'd love to be able to use them in games.

Agreed.

I thought we had addressed this, will give this another look in the next update. It may be that they are being taken into account, but their value is not being displayed.

Wow, thanks for the response! I wasn't expecting this to get any look from the devs. O_O

I don't think they're counting towards the empire military power that the enemy AI sees. I tested this by making military ships with only fighter bays on them. Lots of military ships and lots of bays.

I was last in military power, and got war declared on me in short order...
