Ok so I bought Flashpoint last year but haven't had the time to do more than dabble in a few scenarios till now.
I've just finished the first mission in the Soviet campaign and the mission end/results seem quite odd to me.

So with 2hr 45mins to go I received a message saying that the enemy had suffered more than 70% losses and basically don't want to play anymore, then it goes on to say because of this you are ordered to stop. Now because of the 2km victory location rule only one unclaimed victory location became mine, now despite the enemy forces being below 30% starting strength and my own forces being at 94% starting strength I only get 46% Margnal Success rating?

I still have two hours and forty-five minutes to go, let me play it out and I will easily secure all but one or two of the victory locations.
Screenshot of final situation, this should be a decisive victory in my opinion.

Sudden death took a major overhaul in the upcoming 2.04 update. The calculations are improved for a better end result with the VPs and you have the option to play on until the time limit.

There are reams of discussion about Sudden Death. Coming this late to the party means we've already addressed it.
