Don -> Diggin' Out (3/21/2001 11:05:00 AM)

Many weeks ago, I got the "dig in" order from WB. In preparation to make scenarios for the NA mega-campaign, I had to build a sandbag bunker around the computer,and open all windows to let in the maximum amount of flies. Since we could not leave this bunker for the duration, again per orders I stocked up on C-rations, coffee and cokes. Man what a grind, but what a blast too. Everyone did so much in this period of time it was amazing! The hot days, the freezing nights, the same clothes.... :eek: ;) :eek: :p Now it's time for the bunker to come down, because my part is done. Hope my vacuum is good for sand! My only question to WB is: Can I take a shower now? :rolleyes: :D :p :eek:

Waittaminute now Don! You got FOOD?!!! We play testers had to subsist on sweat and sand for the whole time. We don't have to worry about the shower though, Wild Bill sent someone by to hose us down with cold water and keep us alert the whole time. :D :rolleyes: ;) :p

Er, uh, NO! Don't know how that slipped in there. Hehheh. Don

At ease, men! Find some shade...if you can! After a grueling seven weeks of desert warfare in the harshest of conditions, we weary warriors of the Wehrmacht are leaving the desert. Many are shipping out to the East Front. (Crazy volunteers! I thought after working with for two months they would know better!) You'll be enlisted in von Wallace's Brigade or Marauder's Schwerpunkt. Such is the life of a soldier! Some of you are going on R&R. A few have been sent to our "special" hospital where you will be continously slapped around by our General Patton "look-a-like." Flies, heat, bullets, sand, misery. Sorry about the food. I found sand is good fiber material, haven't you? So to my dust-laden, sand doused, smelly comrades of war, a weary salute and a profound thanks from the Colonel. And I got dibs on the shower! Rank should get you something. Oberst von Wilder, Commanding, Groupe Dietsl, DAK, North Africa

Well, you know it's about done if WB is back on the forum! He's been a busy guy. But, if I learned one thing, it's this: The desert was one stinkyplace! :D

K_Tiger -> (3/21/2001 7:04:00 PM)

Bill...are you sure it means group Ditsl???...i think it`s Dietl...without "s" "what right is..must be right"... ;)

Wild Bill -> (3/22/2001 7:45:00 AM)

Actually I spelled it Dietsl, at least in the campaign. Since he is a Colonel of my own making, I took his name from a novel I read on WW2, called "The Young Lions." Probably a phonetic spelling (G)..WB
