brian brian -> Selecting attacker loss unit in Blitz Combat (7/14/2014 2:29:19 AM)

So I was reading in yvesp's great AAR this morning where MWiF allowed an attacking player to select a Motorized AA unit as the lost unit in a Blitz combat. Which was very, very fortunate for the attacker, as the only other possible blitz loss unit in the combat was an HQ-A.

I have never played WiF that way, in that an artillery unit can not be taken as the first loss in a Blitz combat. The rule states an HQ-A, ARM, MECH, or MOT unit must be taken first.

Have I been playing it wrong all these years? Or is MWiF not in agreement with the following? Or is the following out-of-date or changed somewhere, and I missed it?

The FAQ reads like this:

11.16.6
Blitz loss can be taken by what? Can it be taken by MOT ENG, ARM ART, etc?
Or just the named types (MOT, MECH, ARM, HQA)?
Are DIV OK too?

MOT, MECH, ARM, HQ-A corps, armies or divisions. Date 29/11/2007

There is a known bug in MWIF where mandatory losses are not processed right.

You should take a MOT, MECH, ARM or HQ-ARM as a loss. All other motorized units (artillery/ENG) cannot be taken as a loss for Blitz combat (however, the bug allows you to do so...).

In WiF...always assume you will roll the worst result. And plan accordingly.

It's rule #1.
