What is your best source for information on Orders of Battle for different decades?

I am working on a 1998 scenario, and even though it is fiction, I want to be as historical as possible when it comes to OOB.

I cannot find a good resource on which air wings -by type- were aboard the USS GW and the Roosevelt. Any help is appreciated!

Thanks

I can strongly recommend the following site: http://www.gonavy.jp/CVWf.html

It has detailed CVW info for each deployment for all carriers. Pretty impressive stuff.

In addition, if you're looking for Carrier information, you can usually find the "Cruise Book" online, which should give you all the info you need.

This is perfect! Thank you so much.

I just need to find the plane counts now, but this at least tells me the type. I appreciate the quick reply.

Thanks, also, ExNusquam - I will check out your suggestion, too.

For some CVWs gonavy.jp actually lists all of the Bunumbers in a squadron and/or the modexs assigned to that squadron, so it's very easy to figure out how many aircraft there were.

The ORBAT Baloogan has hosted also gives squadron size: http://wiki.baloogancampaign.com/index.php/United_States_Navy_OOB_Current

Not a great link. Old site and doubt anybody would pay.
