So now the summer is almost over and Germany have yet to cross the Pyrenees. I got a bad feeling about this.

If Germany does declare war on Spain I say that it is time for USSR to move all its forces to the German border and make an attempt to break the pact while Germany is occupied in Spain.

Yes it's not looking great is it? I think not declaring Vichy should be considered if the Germans get off to a flyer against France, otherwise.....

Sep/Oct 1941
Impulse: Weather and Initiative

Axis 9:8 Allies - re-roll is ordered.
Axis 3:2 Allies

The weather roll is a 1 - Fine everywhere.

The Axis have caught a break with the weather this impulse - they need to make use of it.

The Luftwaffe attempt four air strikes - Nantes, Toulouse, The British Army between Bordeaux and Bayonne and the French 10th Infantry west of Toulouse.

The He-111 bomber over Nantes excels himself - but this is not the key hex!

First up its the attack in China north of Kweillin. Its 3:1 no modifiers on the Assault table with Yamamoto and Fractional Odds making it 5:1.....

...3 Ouch. The Chinese is destroyed but all Japanese are disorganised

The second attack is on Belgrade. Its 4:1 no modifiers on the Assault Table.

Its a 6 - One unit destroyed and the other Shattered. Belgrade falls.

To Southern France now and its a 3:1 +1 on the Blitz table.

Its a 4(5) [&:]. The Germans lose a unit and are disorganised. The only good news is that the British are also destroyed as they cannot retreat. But that attack has pretty much sealed the Germans fate....

...agh its a 10. They needed that last throw!

And Toulouse still holds. Vive La France. I think the USSR are in a very good shape by now, aren't they? Two whole years to build up the army and the airforce... Have they grabbed Persia yet? If not, it's about time to do so in the upcoming winter months...

The CW has got losses, that's for sure. But on the other hand, time is slipping away for Germany very, very fast...

Courtenay -> RE: Bob Flemin's MWIF AARse IV - Nice AArse (8/25/2014 1:41:09 PM)

My AAR shows what happens when the Germans attack Spain too late. At least in my game, the Germans had time to conquer Spain in '41. In this game, they won't. If I were the Germans, I would leave Spain alone now, swing over to Russia, and try for a '42 Barbarossa. It might work; going for Spain at this point won't. Also, a Vichy declaration now might mean there is no Free France, as there is no place for the French navy in France.

I think I agree. Declare Vichy and see what happens with the Free French. If they aren't created, that's very good for the Axis. Spain in 1942 is a very difficult thing, because it's got more units to build up a good defense. Especially if the CW can assist with the airforce and the USSR build up the forces in the common border, Germany won't have the forces necessary to conquer Spain and keep the Russian bear in it's cage...

No, you didn't put it in the wrong thread... You wanted to upset Mr. Warspite with this action...[:D] I wonder how he reacts on seeing what happened...

AllenK -> RE: Bob Flemin's MWIF AARse IV - Nice AArse (8/25/2014 2:05:21 PM)

He's already seen it on a WITP: AE thread but not, until now, the full story. Still, no harm in a reminder [:D]

Interestingly I am no longer asked if I want to declare Vichy - only if I want to surrender.

Centuur -> RE: Bob Flemin's MWIF AARse IV - Nice AArse (8/25/2014 5:17:30 PM)

That's according to the rules if there isn't an in-supply Axis landunit in Paris...

Right I will check that out, I think that Spain is a forlorn hope now....

The CW choose a naval and set about sending their AMPH/TRS all over the globe to bring military assets from the Empire to where they are most needed. The Dutch TRS heads for Canada to pick up an INF, a TRS already in South Africa heads for Egypt carrying another INF, while units from the UK are being prepared for transfer to the Mediterranean - specifically Gibraltar and Malta.

The RN send a submarine patrol to the Italian Coast to seek out the Italian convoys from Sardinia. The RAF join the party, bringing in a Sunderland Flying boat. Fliegerkorps X send in a Bf-110 to fly cover over the convoys.

The Allies roll a 2
The Axis roll a 4

The Allies successfully find the convoy and have 6 surprise points to spend. The British want to avoid an air battle given the fighter cover in place - they spend 4 points to choose the combat type.

The final two points are used to decrease the enemy combat column.

The subs get amongst the convoys and cause them to scatter (abort).

Job done, the British withdraw.

There is little else for the Allies to do this turn. The Chinese Communists continue moving east to pressure the Japanese forces in northern China.

Orm -> RE: Bob Flemin's MWIF AARse IV - Nice AArse (8/26/2014 1:05:11 PM)

To me it felt better to increase the damage done and sink the Italian convoy. What was the original result versus the sub that you wanted to avoid?
