Japan vs. China

Date/Time: 1 October, 2014 / 06:00 (Local)

Location: East China Sea

Playable Sides: Japan, China

Duration: 9 hours

Introduction:

The dispute of Diao-yu/Senkaku islands between China and Japan has put tension to the dangerous level. Recently both sides have significantly increased their air sorties. With so many warplanes in the sky, an accidential crash seems inveitable.

Two hours ago, a Japanese patrol plane gone missing in the area near Senkaku/Diaoyu island. It quickly become the spark in powder keg. Diplomatic effort is on-going to deescalate this situation. However, it will take some hours for it to succeed.

Scenario Design Notes:

This is a medium AAW scenario designed to be played from the JASDF or PLA side. Points are gained when enemy planes are shot down. Conversely, points are lost if your planes are lost.

As a quick initial comment, the Japanese radar sites should start with their radars radiating. Also, the Patriot batteries appear to be pointing north-east, and away from China!

Thanks Nick for the comment.

The radar and SAM orientation has been fixed for both sides. Regarding the radar not being active, it will be on once the game start as the ROE for radar is active.

I made some adjustment to downgrade the PLA proficiency level to cadet. Keep the JASDF as regular. Overall, this is a large AAW scenario with difficulty level 4. Most of my test runs ends as draw (average) or minor victory. Here you goes.

If airbases are not going to be targets for either side, you should consider single-unit airbases. It will cut down the unit count and should improve overall performance.
