Chris21wen -> Major help needed with this game (7/29/2014 9:28:03 PM)

I'm struggling to get into this game. I don't mean run it I mean play it and this is due to lack of information about what the heck is going on in many of the windows that open. The manual isn't, it's a story and nothing to do with playing the game. Who cares how we got to now, I don't I do care about how to progress.

The so called compendium which is supposed to supply this inform is horrendous. Finding info that is useful is impossible. Using this picture as an example, I want to know what all the little symbols mean? Well what do they mean?

In other popups there are cogs , what do they signify? I know now, production points but I only found that out because I opened the city screen and it had cogs next to the word production. From that I worked it out. I should have to guess the info should be available for me to read, yes read not watch some half assed video on U tube.

Rant over but it's all valid. Gives us a decent manual please.

Oh! does anybody have this info? Is it in the game help?

Allow me to be the first to completely "ditto" that. [:@]

Not sure what you want but from the picture you supplied:

Weapon, then armor under that (you have none), unit experience, attack power, movement (2/2 or 0/2 greyed out) and unit health.

I think a certain amount of frustration over lack of a rules book for a game is a reasonable gripe.

That's more or less what I wanted, what the symbols mean. Thanks it helps. But this brings up some other questions.

How do I know what the weapon is?
I have no armour but does the three little 'l' indicate that I can have a max armour value of 3?
I do not understand the chevrons? The 1 tells me the unit is raw.
It has an attack power of 2. How does this impact on the game, re the ability to overcome or not, armour?
Movement 2/2 mean it can still move 2 hexes while 0/2 means it's already moved or maybe static it there are static units.
Health wise it's all singing and dancing.

Units in games often include morale value. Is morale part of this game?

Retreat1970 -> RE: Major help needed with this game (7/30/2014 7:06:27 PM)

Hovering over the unit should bring up a discription.
3 L's are bullets.
Chevrons=rank=1=recruit.
Attack power just a relative number to compare against other units. I don't know how defenses change this.
2/2=2 out of 2 movement points left. 0/2 unit has moved.
Morale for units=no. Citizens=yes.

The slitherine forums are more active than this one if you want to check that out.

We need a manual.

StellarRat -> RE: Major help needed with this game (8/13/2014 6:19:26 PM)

I agree a manual is needed, but since the game is still being changed it would be kind of wasteful to produce a manual that is outdated almost immediately.

mikeCK -> RE: Major help needed with this game (8/13/2014 11:55:26 PM)

Not for stuff that won't change...like what the symbols mean and basic gameplay

Yeah, but why would anyone print an incomplete manual. I suppose if it was only a PDF it would be OK, but you shouldn't print hard copies when you know changes are coming. I've written a game manual before. It's not some small undertaking and changes to the software are pain.
