AKicebear -> Automation variation across races (7/30/2014 1:13:50 PM)

I'm wondering if automation will vary across races? Specifically, do ship designs and research priorities vary? Any other forms of automation variation would be good to know about too.

I've tried looking this up but the closest I've found is something about Ship Design Optimization, which is a concept I'm not particularly clear on. Would be great if there was a technical document to compliment the manual and Galactopedia - which are useful for entry into the game rather than this kind of nuance.

My motivation is that I'm unclear if the above occurs, although I hope it would so that playing across different races has a different "feel". I know I could delve into ship design to handle this myself, although that's essentially the one area that I'm not willing to go full manual on (for now). Research I'll tinker with but still mostly keep with automation, although am slowly taking a bigger role in.

Thanks for any advice!

each race/pirate has a separate Policy file and group of Ship Design files, as well as pre-set personality and diplomatic biases.

these give each race unique diplomatic and research priorities as well as unique ship designs.

Thanks for the clear answer!

If I modify an existing ship/base design (for example, adding rec center to a defensive base) but then keep automate ship design on - will the AI continue to use my modification as a baseline for future upgrades, or will it jump back to its preferred "ideal" design?
