WildCatNL -> 2.04 Lucky day or bug: DCIPM kill on hovering Mi-24s? (8/15/2014 5:12:53 PM)

See attached screen shot:
07:30 AA is engaging 2 Mi-24s some 7 hexes away
07:30 2/OM Arty dropping ICM barrage ~7 hexes away from AA
Afterwards, no more mention of Mi-24s.
2/OM Arty lists 2 helo kills.

I'm not sure this is a bug (I'd prefer this to be a lucky day in a deep simulation). Since I'm not able to Google anything useful on DCIPM effects on rotary wing, I'm reporting it.

Thanks,

William

I don't think it's a bug.  Capn Darwin answered a similar question here: http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=3670764

In order to get optimal dispersion for the submunitions, I think DPICM bursts at an altitude high enough to make the submunitions a danger to helos hovering at low altitude.

We do give ICM the nod to hit hovering helos. I would call it a very lucky day to get both of them.

From what I know about DPICM (having been an FO in the Guard in the 80's, never called it live, though [:(] ) if a helo was hovering in a 500 meter grid where a DPICM fire mission had been called, a hit and kill would not be unlikely.
