StereoCommand -> Graphics Issues (8/15/2014 9:39:48 PM)

Hi. I am running the game on a Mac using Parallels. The actual game itself seems to work well, I have run a few scenarios successfully. However the graphics are all over the place, none of the briefing windows or the database windows work properly, and the map is mostly random lines with the occasional blue sea and land if you are very lucky, but one view move and it all disappears.

From the few custom scenarios I have made and run I know my money was well spent! Awesome game, I just want to get it to work properly.
(Who knew RNZAF Gripen E's and a P-1 could sink a Chinese carrier!). I look forward to the learning curve

Any advice of graphics setting I need to check in windows 7 would be appreciated.

Since I am running the game using Parallels is there anything I need to check on the setup of the virtual drive?

Cheers

Chris

Chris,

I am also on a MacBook Pro and just had a somewhat similar experience with Parallels. Normally it works fine, but a Windows update set my graphics from 32 bit back to 16 bit. Make sure you are running 16 bit graphics. I don't think it makes a difference whether you use the internal Mac graphics on the i7 processor or the separate graphics card (if that applies to you - it does on the macbook pro).

Try making sure you are running 32 bit graphics first. That's in the Windows settings not Parallels.

My experience was a white world with a few colored spots where unit locations were shining.

Also, you may need to periodically check those Windows graphics settings as on my laptop, if I'm not plugged in to a power cord the Parallels VM says it's reducing some features to save power. It hasn't affected me yet, but I could see it changing graphics levels to save some processor power at some point. Just something to keep in mind if it suddenly goes bad again. (of course if you have an iMac this is irrelevant).

Hi Dave

Thanks for that. I checked the windows graphics are at 32bit, and the power is plugged in... No luck so far.

Any more ideas?

Cheers

Hooray! Turns out I had not updated the Parallels Tools properly, and it wasn't configured for my Retina screen on the Mac :)

Windows runs so much better now. I am such a douchbag...

An OSX client would be great though, its a real pain having to run Windows to play this game haha

It's easy to miss some of the config things in Parallels. I've never used bootcamp and don't know if that would be a better option. I started with Parallels a long time ago and have generally been pleased with it.

Glad to hear it's working.

I am afraid I am still having troubles.

Reinstalling Parallels tools fixed somethings, like the map.

But now all the menus are unreadable, with the fonts being either too big or too small so you can't read them, and when you scroll, the words all stay behind so it all goes black.

Also the database viewer does not work... No words, images nothing. I have downloaded the updated pack.

Is there a preferred screen resolution and font size with this game?

Currently running 2880 x 1800 (Mac Book Retina 15"), and font at 125%

Any help appreciated!

Cheers

Chris

Darn... That's so disappointing......

Well my macbook pro is a few years old (2011, late). I think I'm running at 1680x1050 on my Mac (that's as high as I can go). I run Parallels in a Window that is 1556x972. Sometimes I make it full screen. It doesn't make a difference on mine if I run with the on board graphics or the graphics card (in my case 1GB AMD Radeon HD 6770M)

I would suggest:

1. Reducing the resolution of Parallels.
2. Making sure you are running with your graphics card, and not the Intel on board graphics.

Not sure if those will help but it's the best I can think of.

One more thing I thought of (you may have already thought of this). Check to see if your Parallels VM configuration is set for Performance (not speed). No idea if that will make a difference or not but it's an easy test.

Tried running mine on a second monitor because I could bump up the resolution. I was able to run at 1920x1200 with no problem. I know that doesn't help but...

jarraya -> RE: Graphics Issues (8/19/2014 9:36:16 PM)

I run it on an iMac using Bootcamp and Windows 7 and it runs perfectly and even the very large scenarios run with no lag.
