Thanks for posting this!

I love that scene as well!

Does anyone know where she is now? I last heard that she was headed for a museum since Memphis TN couldn't take care of her properly. But that is what I heard several years ago.

With many war surplus aircraft, the military retains ownership and the museum just has possession of it. The aircraft could be recalled by the DoD at any time.

There is some dispute about what happened to the Memphis Belle. The USAF claimed Memphis was not maintaining the plane appropriately, however the city of Memphis claimed they were following the DoD's requirements. I'm not sure what the true story is. In any case, the plane is undergoing a full restoration at the USAF museum in Dayton. There are pictures of the restoration out there.

Excellent!!! This is one of the best places on earth she could be. I thought this was the case but did not want to post something I couldn't verify. The USAF museum at WPAFB Dayton Ohio is the ultimate museum ever in my opinion!!

I have spent many, many, many days walking through that museum when I worked for the B1-B SPO just across the highway in Area C. Very fond memories. I dated the daughter of the general who was in charge of the museum at that time.

Well....so.....

what???...

I know a good deal when I see one!

Many Asians must thank America for these fine gentlemen who flew in these magnificent planes. I would be speaking Japanese now if had been not for them. I salute them![&o][&o][&o]

Just watched it and the first thing that came to mind with all those men running around while the planes were spooling up and moving was how many ground crew were injured and killed in this bedlam

There is another video about the Restoration at the USAF museum .

And instead you are speaking English. Why is that better?

Because he has a choice? Are you saying he should not be entitled to choose? [&:] Singapore became independent BY CHOICE after the war. I've interviewed many , many Chamorrans (natives of the Marianas islands) who can assure you that when Japan occupied them, they were given only one choice. "Do as we tell you or die". Obviously speaking their native language , or seeking independence, were not options. [:(]

When I was stationed at NAS Memphis in the late 70's, I saw her there. She was in pretty bad shape. I recall thinking "If nothing is done , the world's going to lose her to corrosion". And not only would that be a shame because she's The Belle, but there are very few B-17 E's or F's left. [:(]
