Well, i will try to test the new game mode. I'm play the soviets and kaliesin play with capitalist. 1955 Q1 -Few decisions now. Many obvious. Start VAB, MCB buildings and upgrade SET to reach 14 people. The personnel ratios are now very very low, really dump techs outhere. Send all of them to advanced training so to save money i do not open any program. Q2 -In the news noticed my rival open the Explorer program. The capitalist try other approach than me. -Once finished the MCB (Mission control building), hire five members. Again the initial ratios are...horrible. Will send to AT surely. Q3 -The SET building is ready so hire 9 techs more. No personnel ready to R&D so the soviets are without open programs yet. Q4 -Personnel of SET and CM are ready (in theory). The CM back to advanced training (the flights are very far in the future). The SET people go to work finally. Open the Sputnik 1 and the R-7 Sputnik booster. But very soon noticed that two of the SET are very dump. I cannot imagine how this people were capable to find the Soviet agency and parking outside. The two are again send to advanced training so only three personnel working on R&D, two with R-7 and one with the Sputnik 1.

1956 Q1 -The second batch of SET personnel go again to advanced training. The cosmonauts building was started last turn and continue progress. -A lot of dump personnel had consequences. Sputnik level is only at 32% safety and R-7 at 44%. Well, will see. Q2 -Cosmonaut building done. Hire only two people. Nothing more to do. Sputnik at 41% and R-7 at 56%. Q3 -I think the capitalist are almost ready to launch. My first batch of flight controllers are ready now. The real problem starts here. Send again to AT? Stay to be ready for a flight. My first launch seems to be far away yet. Decide send those men again to AT. -A random event ups my prestige 60 points. Great! -Sputnik 51%, R-7 66%. Q4 -Very bad news. The capitalist reach orbit in the first attempt. Explorer 1 was a success. May be the blue techs were better at start? -My 14 SET people are ready to work, send to Sputnik 1 and R-7 (8) and the others go to advanced training. Sputnik 71%, R-7 74% safety. 1957 Q1 -No tech personnel available and no flights programmed so...nothing to declare. At end's turn Sputnik at 82% and R-7 to 80%. I hope to launch next season. Q2 -Great news. The capitalists launch the Explorer 2 last season and failed miserably. Mmmhahahaha. We no launches yet...grr. -We have two cosmonauts and go to advanced training waiting until Vostok exist so decide start with Vostok program and Vostok rocket because i have now four techs available to R&D. It's risky, those decisions left me with only 12000$ in the box and red numbers in my seasonal budget (-385$). If the Sputnik 1 fails.... -But the Sputnik 1 is a success!!! A perfect mission without problems. Q3 -In the news, the Explorer 3 is underway. Another try with extended mission. -The R-7 Sputnik is at maximum R&D and several SETs are graduated this turn so to polish the research, empty all the R&D spaces in programs and assign the techs again. After that left me 7 techs unemployed (7 are working on Vostok and R-7 Vostok). Decide assume more risk and open the R-7 Lunik booster, needed to Moon missions and assign 3 techs. The red numbers in budget reach -640$/season and five seasons yet to next node...buff. -At the end of turn Vostok 20%, R-7 Vostok 50% and R-7 Lunik 63%. -The Sputnik 2 reach orbit in the Extended mission. Q4 -Quiet turn. Both space agencies continue with extended satellite missions. -No personnel to re-assign or training so nothing to do. Money box drops and drops so waiting and waiting. Vostok 29%, R-7 Vostok 59% and R-7 Lunik 69%.

1958 Q1 -In the news, the Explorer 3 was a success. Meanwhile, in the URSS, the two cosmonauts, two Flight Controllers and two SET are ready after a advanced training program. With no money to new programs, the soviet agency must wait until 1959 and the new budget. Vostok 39%, R-7 Vostok 67% and R-7 Lunik 73%. -The Sputnik 2 ends the Extended mission with success. Prestige is now at 2210. Q2 -All my personnel are now working or resting. No money to more advanced training, no money for nothing more than waiting. Vostok 48%, R-7 Vostok 72%, R-7 Lunik 76%. Q3 -It's possible my rival had same budget problems like me? No news this season. -Vostok 56%, R-7 Vostok 77% and R-7 Lunik 79%. Q4 -No news..no money.. -Vostok 62% (slowwwwwwwwly), R-7 Vostok 80%, and R-7 Lunik 81%.

1959 Q1 -The USA launch a uncrewed Mercury capsule to space last season. The mission was a success, unfortunately. -Money!!! Now had money at last. 8300$ in the box and 5734$ season. Time to regain time. At once open the Lunik 3 probe. Upgrade the MC Building, buff, what a mistake there, i had no MC techs to fly Vostok missions so...this is a disaster. No money to do it earlier. What a novice error... -Vostok 68%, R-7 Vostok 83%, R-7 Lunik 82%, Lunik 3 47%. Q2 -The USA launch another Mercury capsule, this time with a astronaut onboard but seems like something gets wrong. Mission was a failure. Crew's destiny is unknown. -Hire another 8 MC members but all of them go first to basic training so Vostok flight get another delay. -Vostok 73%, R-7 Vostok 86%, R-7 Lunik 84% and Lunik 3 61%. Q3 -The third USA Mercury launch (another suborbital uncrewed) is another failure. It's sad my agency cannot take advantage in those circumstances. -I had no many chances to success but decide the launching of the Luna 3 (73% safety). Vostok 77%, R-7 Vostok 87%, R-7 Lunik 85%. -Luna 3 lift off without problems and make a perfect flyby over the moon. Q4 -Another failure when USA try to make a Mercury suborbital uncrewed flight. Seems this capsule is doomed. -My MC techs are graduated of basic T but need better ratios to fly the Vostok so all of them back to training at once. -The R-7 Lunik finished R&D. Would be necessary start with the Proton but the VAB is at level 1 so upgrade to level 2. The techs unemployed going to other tasks. Also, the Sputnik and Lunik 3 programs are closed and the Lunik 2 opened. -Vostok 80%, R-7 Vostok 89% and Lunik 2 68%.

1960 Q1 -Bored turn. Techs are all working, cosmonauts training, and no flights programmed. Capitalist quiet also. -Vostok 83%, R-7 Vostok 90% and Lunik 2 75%. Q2 -No news. Capitalist must be working on fix the Mercury problems. -Three more cosmonauts are hired. Total is now 7, but only 2 available when MC techs are graduated. -The Lunik 2 is launched and, after three minor glitches solved, impacts the surface of the moon. Q3 -All is finished now. My new MC techs are ready and the VAB Upgrade done. It's time to fly finally the Vostok at the end of the turn. Crossing fingers. -After the success of the Lunik 2 and the ending of the R&D of all my rockets all the SET personnel is re-assigned to new programs; the R-7 Voskhod and the Proton rockets. I Will start with the Voskhod capsule when Vostok gets free. -Vostok 87%, R-7 Voskhod 78% and Proton 78%. -The Vostok 1 is a success. Only a minor problem, resolved by my techs fortunately. Q4 -In the news, the USA failed another uncrewed suborbital flight test with the Mercury capsule. -I'm now again short of money but decide open the Venera 15 program. I had three unemployed SET and i think is better this people work anyway. -This season we launch the Vostok 2, my first attempt to fly a capsule crewed. The cosmonaut Tomislav Kuklev is the choosen to risk the life. This will be a suborbital flight. -The Vostok 2 is launched and Kuklev returns safe to earth after a short fly. 1961 Q1 -In the news again other capitalist failure when try to suborbital flight. This is very unusual. -Vostok 3 fly my first orbital uncrewed with success. This time none minor failure or glitch during flight. Q2 -The USA launched last season another Explorer in extended mission. Imagine they try to rise the prestige. -My Vostok capsule is completely done but i had no money to jump to Voskhod. We must wait until next season. No flights. -Proton 83% and Venera 15 60%. Q3 -No news. -The launch of the Vostok 4 (first orbital crewed) is ready. And, finally, the second cosmonaut (Ilya Akulov) complete a few orbits and return to earth with success. Now must wait a couple of turns to get money and start the Voskhod program. Q4 -Prestige is now at 19046, not bad. All my personnel is now focus on Voskhod. May be will fly a Vostok 5 somewhere in the future but only to make a Duration II flight. -R-7 Voskhod 87%, Proton 85%, Venera 15 73%, Voskhod 69% and Berkut suit 10%. 1962 Q1 -The USA launch the Mercury 7, a suborbital uncrewed capsule with success. In spite their recent failures, the capitalist start also the Gemini capsule R&D. -Tomislav Kuklev is onboard again to fly the Vostok 5, a Duration I orbit mission. The mission is a success. Q2 -Again without budget to launches. -In the news the USA launch their first suborbital crewed Mercury with success. Q3 -The USA accomplish the uncrewed orbital flight with the Mercury. -The capitalist are now almost same level than me so decide jump to Voskhod program and withdrawn future flights with Vostok. -The Voskhod 1 (uncrewed suborbital) is launched with a R-7 Lunik rocket and performs good the first part of the flight. However, a minor glitch during re-entry almost cause a disaster. My techs fix the problem and the capsule returns safe to earth. Q4 -The Mercury 10 make a orbital mission with success. -I had no money for flights so waiting next budget season. -General situation now is: USA 14 missions (6 failures)- URSS 10 missions (no failures). Surely my lucky not stay so long.

1963 Q1 -No news but fortunately, a lot of money to start new projects. -My two veteran cosmonauts, Akulov and Kuklev will fly the Voskhod 2, a suborbital flight launched with a R-7 Vostok rocket. Unfortunately, this will be my first failure in this space race. Something gets wrong during modules separation just prior re-entry. Hopefully, my two cosmonauts return safe but the mission was a failure. The Voskhod capsule falls 4%, a little bit may not prevent another try next season. -Upgrade to level 2 the Cosmonauts center and the MC center. We need more personnel when probes and Soyuz will available. Q2 -The Gemini 1 (Uncrewed suborbital) it's a success. The USA are now in a fast pace to catch me. -I feel the fear so decide fly the Voskhod 3 uncrewed to test the capsule before another crewed mission. This time the booster will be a R-7 Voskhod. The mission is a success. None minor glitch in all, a perfect flight. Q3 -The Gemini 2 (crewed suborbital) was a success last season. Both agencies are at same level now. However, the capitalist need a success in a moon probe mission. -Nikita Voitenko and Dmitriy Zukov are choosen to fly the Voskhod 4, my first attempt to put two people in orbit. It's risky because jump the suborbital pre-step. But everything was ok and the flight had only a minor glitch solved. -In this turn hire five more cosmonauts and 9 new MC techs. This is a crucial point of the space race because now I must choose the configuration to fly to the moon. We need a huge rocket so upgrade the VAB to level 3 (3 seasons to complete). My election is the Soyuz 7K-LOK configuration. I think is the most easy way to accomplish objective at short term and with low budget. The Voskhod 4 in orbit. Unknown causes. -The Voskhod capsule is finished so this season re-assign again all my personnel in the SET. -The Voskhod 5 is launched with Ilya Akulov and Nikolai Biryukov onboard. This is a orbital Duration II mission. The EVA Suit is not ready yet. Again the capsule had a problem during retrofire and the mission was a failure. Like past failure, the cosmonauts return safe, very lucky in this point. The capsule is degraded 2%.

1964 Q1 -My rival gets another failure during last Gemini launch (orbital flight). The USA choose to reach the moon the Gemini Direct Ascent. -Need money to buy the 7K-LOK program so no flights this season. Q2 -The USA Launch the Gemini 4 (uncrewed orbital test) and had success. -The 7K-LOK program is opened and assign to it a lot of techs. -Tomislav Kuklev and Dmitry Zukov will try again a orbital Dur II with the Voskhod 6. This time, my lucky was empty. During landing, a catastrophic failure kill both cosmonauts. The Voskhod capsule is doomed by unknown reasons. This is the game, the capsule was in every launch with 85% safety. No piety. Q3 -This season will launch the Venera 15 spacecraft. Would be possible another launch with Voskhod but this game had a dangerous tendency to "fail again" just after a catastrophic failure so... -Hire two more cosmonauts to substitute the deceased. N1 rocket is opened and start their R&D. -The Venera 15, my first Proton rocket launch, go right, but this is a 6 season mission so is soon to be happy. Will see the outcome. Q4 -The USA reach the milestone of orbital flight Dur I, I don't know if this was achieved with Mercury or Gemini spacecraft. -The Voskhod 7, with Ilya Akulov and Nikita Voitenko is launched from Baikonur. This is another try of the Orbital Duration II flight. In the re-entry, the capsule had a catastrophic failure and both pilots died. I think this is the end of the Voskhod and must be abandoned.

1965 Q1 -The USA launched a couple of probes last season with mixed results. The Pioneer 5 (Lunar flyby) was a failure but the Pioneer 12 (Venus orbiter) was a success. -Open the Mars 69 probe to put my three SET available techs to work. I'm not very interested on carried away a Mars mission now but.. -Berkut 73%, Luna 15 68%, 7K-LOK 54%, LK 52%, Krechet 30%, N1 77% and M69 44%. Q2 -Last season the USA launch the Gemini 5 and had success. I don't understand this flight because the USA had the Orbital Dur II before. Training astronauts? -The Soyuz moon spacecraft is very green yet so I think is a must another Voskhod fly...This spacecraft is a headache to me. Send another two cosmonauts to hell? Hard decision. -Finally take another option and launch the Luna 15 with a Proton rocket. It's another hard mission because the spacecraft is under 80% safety but no risk lives anyway. -No surprise here. The mission was a failure. The spacecraft make a soft landing with success but just after that the radio contact is lost. Q3 -The Gemini 6 is another success, this time making a EVA. Definitively the USA give me their bad luck forever. I'm only collect failures and more failures. -It's time to do something or everything is lost. Vladislav Kunitsky and Andrey Karev will fly the Voskhod 8. The capsule is now at 85% safety but their three last flights were disasters. Bad...very bad things about this. -Berkut 76%, Luna 15 61%, 7K-LOK 64%, LK 55%, Krechet 42%, N1 79%, M69 58%. -At the end of the turn the Voskhod 8 lifts-off from Baikonur. Everyone in the agency had a lot of pessimism. The critical moment happens when Karev performs the EVA without problems. The return to earth was uneventful and get success finally! Q4 -The USA finally achieved the Lunar Flyby by another Pioneer 4 type spacecraft. -Need a Duration II so must launch another Voskhod, the 9. Nikita Yuganstsev and Nikolai Yanukovich are the heroes this time. May be heroes in a coffin finally but heroes anyway. -The Voskhod 9 lift off with success. Once in orbit the disaster, again. A catastrophic failure kill both pilots. This is the real end of the Voskhod, and may be the program. This is my sad record, never, I said NEVER before lost six people playing this game. 1966 Q1 -No capitalist flights past season...curious. -Well, with Voskhod deceased, the only way is focus on Soyuz 7K-LOK, now at 72% safety. My two other probes are also unable to complete their objectives. No launches. Q2 -The USA achieved the Joint Launch and Orbital Flight. A Gemini spacecraft imagine. -Nothing to do. None spacecraft capable to flight yet. Q3 -No news, no flights, no...nothing. Q4 -In the news, the USA launched another Pioneer to the Moon to make orbit but fail. -Well, the Soyuz 7K-LOK is ready and it's time to test in LEO. For this first mission we use the R-7 Lunik rocket. The Soyuz 1 is launched and after that, in spite two minor problems solved by my techs, the mission was a success.

Hehe, sorry, forgot update... 1967 Q1 -The capitalist fly the Gemini 9 and 10, a rendezvous mission with success. -This is the critical period in the game, 1967-1970, when the two sides will pursue the main goal. I think is very late but decide upgrade the SET building to hire more personnel. Need more people to side missions. -At the end of the turn the Soyuz 2, uncrewed orbital test is launched. Everything is OK and the mission is a success. -We also launch the Mars M69 to the red planet. But in this point returns by bad luck. The Proton rocket had a failure during ascent and the spacecraft is lost. Q2 -The USA launched a last and successful Pioneer mission to Moon. But in the second launch of the season, failed to sit the Pegasus satellite in orbit. -The Soyuz 3, with Aleksey Talalikhin and Nikolai Biryukov es ready to launch. This will be a single orbit in LEO with crew, but also will be the first time we launch with a N1 rocket. -After the lift-off the N1 functions perfectly and put the spacecraft in orbit without a single problem. The rest of the mission was also uneventful and another step to Moon has reached! Great! Q3 -The USA finally puts the Pegasus 2 in orbit and working. -The Soyuz 4 will be the first spacecraft of this type to reach the moon. Uncrewed, of course. The lift-off runs perfectly and had only minor problems (solved) during TLI and slingshot to return earth, fortunately with success. -But again, the bad luck hits the Mars probes. It's possible the historic bad omen luck with Mars it's happen to me playing BASPM? The Mars M69 2 again gets a failure during launch because a crack in the Proton. This rocket is a...xxxx Q4 -Well, after last news I think that only a miracle save the Russians. The USA achieved a Gemini DA uncrewed test in LEO at first attempt. Moreover, a major accident took place in the VAB and we cannot do any mission this season! The race is lost... -But...when try to make launches anyway....the program functions normally...no damage on VAB...strange -The Mars M69 3 lifts-off at last with success! The Proton OK this time. This is a three season mission so...will see. -And just days after the Soyuz 5 (Manned Lunar Pass) is launched. Everything is ok during TLI leg but, just after slingshot, a catastrophic failure happens. New disaster record, eight cosmonauts deceased! 1968 Q1 -The Gemini DA 2 (Uncrewed Lunar Pass) is a failure so...maybe we had another chance to win. -Aleksey Talalikhin and Nikolai Biryukov are the choose to be kil...rrr I mean are the choosen to make a successfully flight aboard Soyuz 6 and return safe after a Lunar Pass. -The fly of the Soyuz 6 is perfect, from start until the end. Only two minor glitches solved by my techs during preparations to re-entry. Next step will be landing but unfortunately the Krechet EVA suits are not ready.. Q2 -In the news what a surprise. The USA launched the Gemini DA 3 and make a perfect Moon Landing at first attempt. Buahhhhh, i'm a looser. END. After the conclusion of the play, my rival pointed that USA reach the finish without a single soft landing success in the moon (surveyor probe). Obviously a bad situation in a PBEM.
