seille -> Pilot Training and Pool question (9/29/2014 8:47:33 AM)

When i train fighter skills on float planes and move the finished pilot to the pools they are moved
into the float plane pools. Last turn i moved them out of this pool into a fighter unit. Tracker now says that are still
float plane pilots.

How is the pilot type determined ? So far i thought it is by the highest skill, but it seems to be the plane type used in training.
Second question. Is there a way to switch the pilot type from FP to fighter? I was hoping the pilot switch over as soon as i move them into
a fighter unit, but that don´t seem to be the case. Is there a minimum time in the fighter unit needed? Similar to air units on CV´s to become carrier trained ?

Any hints appreciated from the training specialists [:)]

Not really useful information from Tracker.

1.  Pilot "type" has no impact on game play.  Pilot performance is completely dependent on pilot stats.

2.  The only thing which is slightly worth noting of pilot "type" is that moving a pilot from one type of aircraft classification to another is that pilot experience, but not the skills, will suffer a slight drop.  The drop is usually only about 3-4 percentage basis points.

3.  There are only 5 ingame pilot pools visible to the player.  You manually select veteran pilots from these pools, so whatever you see from Tracker is irrelevant.

They only lose XP if they have XP 50+.
For 49 on less there is no XP tax.

Also only manual (clicking on pilot name) transferring pilots with XP 50+ will drop XP.
When using transfer button (transfer 1/5/10 pilots) they will not loose XP.

Thanks Alfred. Then let me ask how i manage to get the FP trained fighter pilots into the fighter pool instead of float plane pool ?
Is there a way like keeping them in a IJN fighter unit for xx days ?
All i want is to have ALL my fighter pilots in my ingame fighter pool.

Thanks for that info. Used the click on pilots methode often. Never noted the XP tax.
Will now use more often the transfer buttons. But this is not always possible.
For example when i transfer pilots from one group to another. Here i sort by group and then manually click on the pilots
names.

You can't, which was the point I was making about the Tracker info being useless.

You have no say in the matter. The five ingame pools aggregate pilots based on their last operational aircraft. All float plane and patrol plane pilots sent to the pool are found in the patrol pool.

Ok, Alfred. This is clear to me. Absolutely. My question was when i draw these FP pool pilots
into a IJN fighter group and keep them there for xx days and then release to reserve will they go
to fighter reserve or still FP reserve? You say the last operational aircraft is the key here.
This means they should go into the fighter pool, right ?

They will go for fighter reserve because their last operational aircraft was fighter. You don`t even need to keep them in fighter group for couple days. You can in single turn move them from FP pool to fighter group and from there to fighter pool.

seille -> RE: Pilot Training and Pool question (9/29/2014 8:32:05 PM)

Koniu and Alfred you´re right. I just tested it and moved pilots from FP unit into a fighter unit and then released them into the pool.
They arrived in fighter pool as you wrote. last operational aircraft is right.
So i simply have my FP fighters move into fighter units then release them to reserve and all is good.
Thank you guys for the help !
