Devast8or -> Mini Subs (10/19/2014 10:57:17 AM)

In the wake of current sub hunt in Sweden I was trying to look up Mini Submarines in the db but I couldn't find any. Are there any, if not will they be added? I think they would be a nice addition for some scenarios.

IIRC there are some SDV:s (Swimmer Delivery Vehicle) in the US section of the db. No Russian variants though...

Triton NN

RoryAndersonCDT -> RE: Mini Subs (10/19/2014 12:57:12 PM)

I've collected a bit of info about the Triton-2 and a number of photos of the Triton-NN here http://forum.baloogancampaign.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=37#p138

Might be a starting point for a DB entry on the Triton-NN.

RoryAndersonCDT -> RE: Mini Subs (10/19/2014 12:59:23 PM)

One major difference between Triton-NN and Triton-2 is that NN can hydroplane and travel much faster on the surface.

Triton-2(project 908) or Triton-1M(project 907)?
people often confuse them with each other

RoryAndersonCDT -> RE: Mini Subs (10/19/2014 1:23:14 PM)

Triton-2, the images with information are labeled Project 908.

The sub in question might be a Triton-NN which I can't find any hard information about at all. But I do have 3-4 images of it.

[ADDED DB v440]

I found a reference to Triton-NN being Project 21310.

measurement of the depth under the keel up to 300 m
software release media on the sonar beacon transponder type MAR-3M with a distance up to 2 km
drive software divers on a carrier from a distance of up to 2 km
SAS "Pripyat-DM" is developed in relation to the placement on the product "Triton-NN", but the station can be placed on other manned submersibles "wet" and "dry" type

[ADDED DB v440]

Maybe the DB designers should consider Piranha/Losos class submarines.

Is the NR-1 nuclear minisub present in database?

http://www.rand.org/content/dam/rand/pubs/monograph_reports/MR1395/MR1395.ch2.pdf

Very intersting sub, smallest ever officially commissioned nuclear sub. I suspect there is at least one or two new minisubs with AIP or mini reactors on covert ops.

It had tank treads on the bottom to roll around the ocean floor.
For weight savings there was no shielding around the reactor compartment so when it pulled in they had to tie it off to the pier quickly since the area was a high radiation area.

Er, wouldn't that be a bit hard on the crew?
