Plodder -> Scenario Editor - Bug with unit tags (10/22/2014 4:11:25 AM)

There's a bug with the tagging system in that if you have two different types of unit in the same company, and both are to be consecutively numbered by having the " %d/ " tag, then you get all kinds of oddness.

Here's an example where the mech platoon doesn't get numbered but the following platoons do as if the first platoon had. In the 4th platoon you get the first squad with no number and the second squad with a number only and no unit designation.

I tried something by having 3 different platoons in a company by duplicating the leg plt and giving it a different code. Here it misses the first platoon of each company and then starts to label every other platoon and squad in the btn sequentially.

Plodder, thanks for the report. The code for this parsing routine has been one of the biggest pains in the butt for us. Every time Rob thinks he has it working, something like this goes off the rails. I'll see if we can do something about this for 206. We are working to get the update into the release schedule. I'll chat with the team tonight and look into the bug.

Hey Plodder, There are some bugs that just don't seem to want to go away. This is one of them. I have pointed this bug out to Rob on numerous occasions and he has attempted fix it (and believed he had) several times. However, it continues to plague us. There is a simple fix for the scenario designer. You can rename the unit to whatever you want it to me. In fact you can rename every unit in the OOB tree. It is a small hassle, but it works until Rob can find the culprit in the code that is doing this.

Yeah, that's actually how I did it when I helped MR with the Brit scens. I noticed the bugs while I was trying out my custom data files so I thought I'd report them.

Definitely report bugs. I think after some emails this morning we are going to just burn that whole naming convention down and do something new and hopefully better in 2.1.
