Don't know if this article's made the rounds here before or not, but it's a great piece by a former Soviet office writing about how the USSR executed anti-carrier operations via naval aviation, e.g. Bears, Badgers, and Backfires. (link goes to a PDF)

Related: I discovered the article while reading a great series of posts about Backfire raids over at Information Dissemination (start here: http://www.informationdissemination.net/2014/10/deception-and-backfire-bomber.html)

P.S. The guys at ID also recently wrote up in detail cyber & electromagnetic warfare in modern naval operations. http://www.informationdissemination.net/2014/10/21st-century-maritime-operations-under_24.html

If there's one thing I'd love to see more robustly modeled in CMANO, it's EW and cyber, and greater ability to model deception operations.

I read ID almost every day - really good stuff there generally. Amazed how close to real tactics Clancy got it in his novel....

We've been thinking about how to implement cyber but that might actually be a good set of different functions in lua (turn sensors on/off etc.).

EW: Our model is pretty advanced. We do strength and frequency. What do you think is missing?

That was rather interesting, thanks for posting.
