scottb613 -> SCO Database Description and Image Optional Addendum (10/31/2014 11:01:28 PM)

Hi Folks,

Just figured I'd share what is probably several hundred hours work... It's an optional add on to CV-60's mega pack... While he did me a favor and included a copy of an early version of my work with his latest update - I've added hundreds of records updates since then... I'd just assume share them while I'm still motivated to continue work...

I would suggest downloading/installing CV-60's mega pack first before trying my work...

As for my work - USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

SCO Database Description and Image Optional Addendum

I've searched long and hard to find the best possible images for each class of platform... I prefer my DB records with just a single image so I remove all thumbnails associated with the records I update... All my images are sized to 1024 pixels wide and I try to get close to 500 pixels - or less - high... I've processed them for clarity, color, and size... All my "Descriptions" are tagged with an [SCO] on the bottom line - so if something needs correction - please let me know... My primary source for information is Wikipedia...

I've included a single file installer for ease of installation - just download and execute... Please READ the directions included with the installer - as I went to great lengths to include them... On Windows 7 machines - it should pull the required path from your registry... If the path remains blank - just select the path to your Command's "root" directory...

For example: "C:\Matrix Games\Command Modern Air Naval Operations"...

The installer will create a directory in your DB directory called "SCO-DBupdate"... Once complete - if satisfied - you can delete the entire "SCO-DBupdate" directory... For every record I update - I do save all the original files in two directories:

Command Modern Air Naval Operations\DB\SCO-DBupdate\CWDB_SAV
Command Modern Air Naval Operations\DB\SCO-DBupdate\DB3000_SAV

If you don't like my changes - you can just copy the contents of these two directories back into their proper locations - OR - just reinstall CV-60's original pack...

The full list of records updated will be presented when the installer terminates... The list is available after that in:

Command Modern Air Naval Operations\DB\SCO-DBupdate\Platform_Upd.txt

Hey Scott,

Is this update more recent than the one you sent me a couple weeks ago?

scottb613 -> RE: SCO Database Description and Image Optional Addendum (11/2/2014 7:08:26 PM)

Hi Doug,

Yeah - it probably has a bunch more... I came up with a new naming convention - the 1620 in the file name reflects the number of records it updates... I've been adding the platforms in Feltan's "African Skies" lately...

Scott

Both Windows 8 and Norton said it was evil and should be destroyed, but I ignored them.

Hi...

I'm not sure why you are getting the notifications - maybe the security settings or just the fact the file is an executable ? I use Win 7 and Trend Micro for antivirus and it didn't complain... While I can assure you there is no deliberate attempt to include anything that would present a problem - I can't guarantee any inadvertent problems - hence my disclaimer... I'm an IT guy by trade though and I take all the reasonable precautions - I did scan the file before uploading... Thanks for the heads up...

Hi Scott,

minor issue noticed here:

Looks like an ID mismatch.

Great work though!

Hi Jan,

Hah - must have been a late night when I did the Hawks... I'll fix it...

The record number helps...

Scott

scottb613 -> RE: SCO Database Description and Image Optional Addendum (11/6/2014 11:39:54 AM)

Hi Folks,

As a couple of you have mentioned it seems as if I went a little crazy with the Hawk missles... I looked at this last night and I found the error of my ways... I had erroneously labeled some Hawk records as a "Weapon" when it should have been a "Facility" - I'm not exactly sure why surface to air missle systems appear in both catagories...

Unfortunately - the problem is two fold - as Steve (CV-60) used my descriptions in his package... So while I can fix the descriptions/images that are in error in my package - if you load Steve's package - the descriptions will still be present... I'll contact Steve - let him know and see how he wants to handle it...

The records I am aware of being in error follow - actually this is the contents of a batch file I wrote to remove them...

I'll post any updates here...

If you notice any additional errors - besides the ones listed below - please let me know...
