AJE taking Long Time to Load

I just purchased AJE and it is taking a long time to load. I'm looking at several minutes of screens that say loading textures followed by a percentage. Is this normal? Is there something I can do to fix it?

My load time is about a couple of minutes or so. No SSD here and Win XP. Seems to play well. Maybe a bit of optimization is in order?
