There are many factors that can prevent NAV attacks.

The two most common ones are weather and CAP ratio.

The tactical AI calculates the ratio of potential escort to potential CAP and normally prevents bombers from flying into overwhelming CAP.

However, this doesn't always work and we all have experienced those cringing moments when our bombers fly unescorted into heavy CAP.

A few other factors are fatigue and morale.

There are no fighters, a new game and took very little time. Weather in both places which enables us to take off on a mission.Fatigue is also not and all machines except 20% of the waiting job search.

Set them to Naval Attack, at 100 feet, set narrow search arcs, set shorter range (10-12 hexes). Check AIR skill of the leader. If weather is good choose Torpedoes, if weather is bad choose Bombs. You can set a small escort flying at 100 feet as well. Bomb them into the Waterworld.

Their height was 6000 feet, in search of 20 degrees has been sent to the place of these vessels. The commander of the leadership under 60 also practically, like other skills, aggression and 64. The first ships were in Rabaul alone now 4 ships in the group at Lungi, 10-12 range makes no sense to set goals for the further fact, aircraft on Truk . Also, in looking at the 80% covers all this area is another plus additional air group H6K.

Do you have other aircraft on 360 degree search? If so, then narrow the search arcs to the area with you want to attack.

I flew Naval Attack from Rabaul against Milne Bay and Guadalcanal with no problem, but I add a small Zero escort using drop tanks - they can escort up to 14 hexes. Maybe CAP over the ships is too strong?

miv792 -> RE: H6k No attack. (11/13/2014 11:20:42 PM)

There's no CAP and can not be by nature of its December 14, 41 years. Other planes from the base to fly over the search radius of these ships in the morning and afternoon. Physically not reach zero, 23 hex is now up to them, there were 17 hexes. There's 2 cruisers and two AP. Base departure Truk.

It could also be due to crew skill, and that would be the nav bombing skill which is usually very low in these units. There are a great number of 'die roles' that we're not privy to here as users (as it should be) that have a great impact on things 'under the hood'.

Miv79, here is some info from the manual.

Maybe you have set your Mavis to extended range (21-25 hexes)? Extended range incurs penalty in naval attack missions.

7.2.1.7.1 AUTOMATIC TARGET SELECTION FOR AIR UNITS LACKING A SET TARGET

When determining whether to initiate an airstrike, a unit with an offensive Mission but no Target set must decide for itself which if any Target it wishes to strike. Units will always initiate a strike against a valid TF if there is one spotted, and are more likely to attack a TF that is within 180 miles (5 hexes).
Units will not always initiate a strike against a base or ground unit if they deem them to be unworthy of attack. The specific naval Target TF picked if there is more than one valid Target TF is determined by the unit based on the importance of the ships in the TF spotted. Carriers are by far the most important Targets, followed by Battleships, Cruisers, Transports, and other ships in that order.

For air units looking for an appropriate base or ground unit to attack, the following factors are considered:

»»The greater the assault strength in a base/unit, the more likely the base/unit will be picked as a Target.

»»The greater the current size of the port, the more likely the base will be picked as a Target.

»»The greater the current size of the airfield, the more likely the base will be picked as a Target.

»»The greater the number of enemy aircraft at a base, the more likely the base will be picked as a Target.

»»The greater the amount of supplies in a base, the more likely the base will be picked as a Target.

»»If a Target is targeted by another airstrike from another base, it is more likely to pick the same Target in order to concentrate efforts.

»»If the target is at extended range, it is less likely to pick the Target.

»»If the number of potential escorts at the unit´s base is not sufficient to defend against the expected CAP at a Target, the Target is less likely to be selected.

»»If the unit’s altitude is set to 100, then the Target’s AA defenses may deter the unit from picking the Target and cause it to abort.

Amoral -> RE: H6k No attack. (11/14/2014 3:12:38 PM)

Apocryphal, but I have no problem using H6Ks to attack at 10-12 hexes, beyond that they rarely fly.
