Generally speaking, especially when one is new, a turn will take you an hour to complete. Unless you and your opponent have infinite patience or are at a research base in the Arctic Circle, it's not conducive to typical hot-seat play. There IS a (matrix-owned) server hosted option, which is how I think most people play over the internet.
