I was wondering if I could send anyone a cd-r to burn me copy of SP-WAW? I will pay shipping charges.

Thank you,

Hey RB, if you also send him a cd with all the usual patches fixes and usual downloads as well ie H2H, yadda yadda you know what I mean, maybe even get him a copy of the SPMBT and SPWW2 file from Wargamer (because a true Steel Panthers fanatic is not picky he wants it all), well then I think I could locate a Hall of heroes medal fer ya:)

Last I checked, SPWaW itself pretty well ate a full cd.

For those out there reading, I have a copy of every known common file possible to consider for Steel Panthers (I can't claim to have every single scenario ever crafted perhaps though).

Alright, I emailed Dave my address. Now, tell me what any good SPWAW player should have downloaded for use (with links).

I'll download all the stuff and keep it together for quick burning for anyone else that needs help. As it is now, I have some files at home and some at work. I'm not very organized in that regard, yet!

Bob

I guess I can do a list at any rate hehe.

Original SSI game literature scanned

5.1 full game install file
5.2 update set up file
5.3 update set up file
6.0 update set up file
6.1 update set up file
7.0 update set up file
7.1 Update .zip file

PBEM .zip file
Russian Steel .zip file
Russian Steel final .zip file
Steel Panthers H2H full install .zip file
Steel Panthers Rules Guides .zip files
SPWaW MCLV Patch .zip file
MCLV Patch 2 .zip file
MCLV Patch sounds .zip file

SPMBT 1.5 complete game .zip file
SPMBT 1.5 upgrade .zip file
SPWW2 5.6 complete game .zip file
SPWW2 5.6 upgrade .zip file

Demos Files
Steel Panthers 1 .zip file
Steel Panthers 2 Modern Battles
Steel Panthers 3 Brigade Combat

As I mentioned, this is not a stash of scenarios (heck there is no way of saying where that might end, and not always possible to know what version is relevant I suppose).

But I have not encountered any other methods of manner to play Steel Panthers to date. The above will accomodate the high end using PC owner, just as easily as the archaic dinosaur PC or limited resources options.

Oops missed Desert Fox and Watchtower patches, but I do have them (just didn't when I made the list I copy pasted from).

rbrunsman -> (3/2/2003 10:00:29 PM)

You forgot H2H. I think I have that one at work.

EDIT:
My bad! You're right, I didn't read carefully enough. Sorry about that.

Les_the_Sarge_9_1 -> (3/2/2003 10:21:40 PM)

Nope I have it on the list there, you might not have seen it is all.

Have not actually played it though (to busy with Mega Campaigns currently).

But it is clearly a favourite with the fan base.

Les_the_Sarge_9_1 -> (3/2/2003 10:31:27 PM)

For those that are not categorically aware (shudder I guess it can happen).

There currently are 6 ways to play Steel Panthers if we are talking up to the minute.

1. Steel Panthers WaW 7.1 is the current official game in Matrix mode.
2. SPMBT which is the revised Steel panthers 2 Modern Battles (but it is DOS and not XP compatible without miracles).
3. SPWW2 which is Steel Panthers by a rival viewpoint (DOS and same as SPMBT above).
4. Steel Panthers 3 Brigade Combat (a level up the tactical chain ie platoons of vehicles) It too is DOS and not XP friendly.

Steel Panthers WaW allows you access to the Mega Campaigns (which I think are the ultimate SP experience).
Steel Panthers H2H allows some features that modify SPWaW to run in what some see as a more realistic manner.

I have 3 demo files which are based on the earlier DOS incarnations. They are just what they are, demos (because some have actually not played Steel Panthers, regardless of how odd that sounds hehe).
Demos of the three basic game versions are a less bothersome way of showing the basic nature of the game.

I have all the other files, because occasionally someone just wants them.

I was just downloading files for Dave and I noticed a 194MB stereo files .zip at ftp.edome.net. I've never downloaded this file before. Is it something I've missed for myself or was it included in my MCLV disc?

The stereo sounds started being included with the v5.3 version of MCNA, as long as your install isn't from 5.01 or before then you already have the stereo sounds (an extra couple of hundred megs of hard drive space installed).

Your LV disk will already have them if you installed from it.
thanks, John.

Thanks John. So, I guess I don't need to include this file when sending CDs to "internet connection challenged" players as long as I'm burning v7.1 for them.
