genehaynes -> Artillery damage vs range (12/9/2014 2:51:01 AM)
Is it just my imagination, but it seems like artillery does more damage at longer ranges than at point blank range. There's been many times when I got zero casualties firing at units directly in front of an artillery unit. Anyone else experience this?

It does less damage at long range, and more at close range, but it doesn't do extra damage at very close range - in our view this simulates the artillery of the period reasonably well. They weren't up to Napoleonic standard.

The Swedes with their light cannon were the only ones to use grapeshot during this period. Everybody else just fired cannon balls. Bowling for men? Hit or miss for sure.
