schroedi -> How to do multiple A/A refuellings (12/14/2014 11:51:26 PM)

I am planning a very long range mission with one attack aircraft (Tornado) and 7 or more tankers (Tornados with buddy pods).
Here what I though.
First four tankers refuel three other tankers and the attacking Tornado, then they RTB.
Second two of the remaing tankers refuel the last tanker and the attacker and then RTB.
Third the last tanker refuels the attacking aircraft and RTBs.

Now, how can I do this ingame? It doesn't worked by creating a mission (or I did it wrong). When I did it manually I had to order every single tanker to refuel, it wasn't possible to tell a group of two tankers to refuel because it seemed that they just reciprocal.
Another problem was that the receiving aircrafts drank too much so that some of tankers didn't make it make.
And last, when the attacking Tornado refuelled form the last tanker both aircraft immediatelly RTB after they completed the transaction because they were so far away from home that they thought that they will need all their reimainig fuel to make it back.

Anyone an idea how to solve this problems? [&o]

What is your experience in such missions, how many additional tankers do i need to refuel the homecomming aircrafts in my case?

No friendly KC-135s or equivalent available?

no, only Tornados with buddy pods.

The maximum range that can be attained by refueling is limited to no more than the maximum ferry range of the aircraft. Unless somehow you can rebase to a closer base before you hit bingo fuel.

The only other way I could see of extending this range is if they let the plane rebase to the nearest tanker. Currently I don't think that is possible.
