The reason two of the Marine divisions are by regiment is they were committed for emergency operations like the seizure of Koepang and reinforcement of Davao and even an AF on Borneo.

Im sure the good COLs are enjoying their autonomy without the MGEN or the Div HQ staff breathing down their necks.

During game development, I suspect their was a USMC fanboy because the USMC leader pool is the best on the allied side. This includes regimental/brigade commanders

Cap Mandrake -> RE: At dawn we slept.....in the cab on the way back from Olongapo (7/30/2020 11:02:33 AM)

Did some searching.

I identified units to be ready for a newly designated landing site in 25 days without buybacks:

1) US Army:

......32nd ID
......145th IR
......112th Cav
......3rd Amphib Tank
......34,15,31 CE
......XI Corps HQ

2) USMC:

......5th Regt
......3rd Pioneer

3) Australia:

......15 Brigade
......16 Brigade
......25 Brigade
......2x Bn of Valentines

4) USN:

......3x Boat and Shore Engineer

That's only 68K 16 kt+ amphibious lift (APA,AP,AMC,LSI) needed for 1st wave [:)]

9th Aus Div, 2nd Marine Div and 5 other Rgt/Brig ready in 50 days

RangerJoe -> RE: At dawn we slept.....in the cab on the way back from Olongapo (7/30/2020 11:08:42 AM)

The Marines were busy between the wars, they are a smaller force than the Army, so it was easier to weed out the bad officers.

*****************Office of the Sec. of the Navy, Washington**************

Young Man in Fine Linen Slacks: What would you say to a along range bomber for the US Navy? You know, it's important to think about the after war environment. This war is good for the Navy but it won't last forever. They aren't going to let you keep all those carriers. There won't be any crews to man them. You don't want to be walking around the Pentagon with nothing to do while the Army Air Corps gets all the shiny new toys.

Sec. Frank "Foxxy" Knox: We'd LOVE to have the B-17.

Young Man in Fine Linen Slacks: Yes, but I'm afraid Marshall must have something on the Boeing boys...but I have good news. I just took the Consolidated board down to Montserrat and let's just say they had a REALLY good time and I have pictures......

Cap Mandrake -> RE: At dawn we slept.....in the cab on the way back from Olongapo (7/30/2020 2:35:23 PM)

The Man in Fine Linen Slacks reminds me of my brother. He had a similar job. [:)]

He was architect on a big real estate development in Florida. It was a bit on the speculative side so they needed lenders. There wasn't full time architecture stuff so he was the party-schmoozer guy. He would find doctors and dentists and professional soccer players etc. in New York and fly the down to Florida on his leased G-5 where they would hunt birds, fish, drink and accidentally meet really attractive women who just happened to be there. Then they would have a big bonfire and hit them up for the checks while they were literally and figuratively "lit up". He had a full time African American bodyguard who was 6 3 and a blackbelt. [:)] The guy never smiled.

Then 2008 happened and that was the end of the party

Cap Mandrake -> RE: At dawn we slept.....in the cab on the way back from Olongapo (7/30/2020 2:41:36 PM)

Funny story. Might have told it before. He's gets pulled over for speeding in FLA. The officers routinely ask "do you have any weapons in the vehicle?"

MIFLS: Yes. I have an over and under in the trunk a 9 mm under the driver's seat and a Ruger in the glove compartment.

Officer: That's quite an armory. Are you in a dangerous profession?

MIFLS: Yes officer, architecture.

I got a new app for my I-phone. Garage Band. Guitars, keyboard, drums, vocal with some kind of auto-tune thing.

It turns out I'm a natural. I already learned the first two cords of Angie

I'm so sorry. That is incorrect. Boy George has not even been beatified yet.

Why, of course it's a joke. Insensitive too.

I'm going to flip over all the cards as the panel has been unable to come up with the answer. He was......St Francis the Sissy

I actually thought that was his real name when I heard it as a kid. Sister Prune Face told us he was an Italian Friar. I assumed he worked at a pizza parlor or something.

Here is the real deal:

St Francis the sissy made my life miserable. He wrote that people who worked with their mind were superior to those who worked with their hand. All I wanted to be was an auto mechanic. So where does a brain surgeon fit in?[&:]

I never knew that about St Francis he Sissy. An elitist saint.

He would fit right in on the New York Time editorial board

Cap Mandrake -> RE: At dawn we slept.....in the cab on the way back from Olongapo (8/1/2020 3:55:05 PM)

I wanted to be a neurosurgeon but one night as a kid I had three febrile seizures.

I had to settle for pediatrics.

Recon showed a PB at Biak last night conducting some kind of amphibious operation. Either they were unloading supply or all the troops got off. Can a PB even do Fast Transport? In any even, further festivities are cancelled.

We need to get the lads some supply and AAA. Maybe a couple of shore bombardments too. AKE's coming up to Hollandia to rearm.

Cap Mandrake -> RE: At dawn we slept.....in the cab on the way back from Olongapo (8/1/2020 4:29:43 PM)

Editorial Correction:

The board wishes readers to understand that "reconned" is not a word and "attrit" is neither a verb nor a word. We wish to also explain that "to learn" means to receive or acquire new knowledge and should not be used in place of "to teach". In certain parts of Appalachia and the Ozarks this usage is common but standard English (Engarish) does not permit it.

Respectfully
