Mickrocks201 -> Airbase ownership changes automatically (12/25/2014 4:06:50 AM)

I manually set the command ownership of Rackheath (90/168) from 8th AF to Bomber Command. You can see this set in the turn 57 save (7/29/44). At the start of 8/5/44 - the turn 58 save - it is back to 8th AF without my having accessed this base at all manually during turn 57. Not sure what is causing the ownwership change to not stick, but it is annoying due to the fact that my RAF NF are all * now.

enclosed is a zip of both WA turns.

michaelm75au -> RE: Airbase ownership changes automatically (12/25/2014 11:09:09 PM)

I loaded up turn 57 and ran forward to turn 58. The base was still under RAF Bomber Command at start of that turn.
Did you press 'AI move/manage..' button?
I pressed it on T58 and that base was changed to 8th US Air Force by AI.
[No, I am not sure how it determines base ownership.[:D]]

dereck -> RE: Airbase ownership changes automatically (12/26/2014 3:32:25 PM)

I'm manually changing my Air Bases (and I'm keeping a notepad list as to what command I assigned them) and some ARE being changed on me automatically.

Kind of frustrating when I take the time to specifically change air base ownership and send specific groups/squadrons there so I can keep them under the same HQ to keep from getting hit with penalties and the game changes things on me.

I have all my turns saved if needed. If needed just PM me with where to email them to.

On an aside: not exactly sure YET because it could be me forgetting to mark units I transferred but I think the game could also be moving support units on me even when I have all the HQs locked. Not 100% sure yet.

Mickrocks201 -> RE: Airbase ownership changes automatically (12/26/2014 7:24:03 PM)

Didn't use AI move/manage. It dd it all on its own.

Just FYI: I'm NOT using AI move/manage.

michaelm75au -> RE: Airbase ownership changes automatically (12/26/2014 10:51:21 PM)

Guys,
Are the HQ changes related to bases in England and/or 8th USAF?
Or anywhere, any HQ?

dereck -> RE: Airbase ownership changes automatically (12/26/2014 10:55:57 PM)

Most of them I've noticed have been in England but I have had a few, I think, in Sicily too.

I noticed mine in England because I consolidated all the air HQs into few airbases and the ones I wasn't using I manually changed ownership to the RAF HQ. HQ's like the 9th USAAF I should have in only 2 or 3 air bases and sometimes I'll see one or two empty air bases saying they belong to that HQ.

I'va also had RAF Fighter HQs change ownship on me (when I've had a lot of fighters assigned to that base).

Mickrocks201 -> RE: Airbase ownership changes automatically (12/27/2014 1:07:11 AM)

It seems to happen anywhere... I suppose I noted England more since those were the bases I monitored the most, but I've had the rug pulled out in Italy too - !5th Af -> TAC AIR and such. Yep and it has happened in France too.

I am running 0.8 but I might have started this game with 0.7.

michaelm75au -> RE: Airbase ownership changes automatically (12/28/2014 5:25:30 AM)

Also be wary of this (not that it related to bases with groups on it) but it has come up a few times in other situations:
quote:

8.3.4.1. AIR bASE uNIt NAtIoNALItY SWItCh
If an in-supply air base unit contains no air groups, and
the TOE of the air base unit is set to Auto, then in the
logistics phase the air base unit will change to match
the nationality of the air Hq unit that the air base unit
is attached. when a friendly air base unit changes its
nationality it will retain the max TOE setting that the
air base had before the nationality change. Bulgarian,
Hungarian, and Rumanian air base units will not
change nationality.

dereck -> RE: Airbase ownership changes automatically (12/28/2014 4:35:19 PM)

I have had airbases change HQ onme. I've been keeping a list of where I've assigned my squadrons and what HQ they belong to and I have taken pains to make sure the Air HQ and airplaces are the same.

HOWEVER, I have had RAF Fighter Command air bases switch to 2nd RAF Tactical Air Force (and other bases change on me - which sucks because of the "penalty" in the game).

I have just now had an RAF Fighter Command Base switch on me (not sure what turn but I just now noticed it) to the 2nd RAF Tactical Air Force HQ.

This is what I've noticed: THe 2nd RAF Tactical Air HQ is on a hex between the Dunsfold BR air Base (2nd Tactical Air Force HQ) and Horne BR Air Base (RAF Fighter Command). The Horne Air Base is the one that switched so it appears that the Air HQs are taking over populated air bases which are near them.

This is becoming a pain in the butt because of the penalties you impose for not having the air groups and air base belonging to the same HQ and yet you pull this stuff on us.

Is this working as designed or a bug? If working as designed it's going to be a real pain since when I moved my 15th Air Force heavies to Foggie from Sicily I couldn't change Foggia to the 15th Air Force until I had the 15th Air Force HQ IN Italy near Foggia so we can't keep the Air HQs far away from our air bases so they don't take over on us without us wanting them to.

Sorry if this comes across as rude as it is not my intention - and I apologize - but I am just very frustrated spending literally hours moving all my air bases and air units around as well as keeping track of them on a separate notepad document to ensure I have air units assigned to the proper Air HQ and yet it all comes to nothing. I can tell they change since I have each HQ groups in as few air bases as possible and assigned the unused air bases to either RAF HQ (in England) or Mediterranean HQ (in the Mediterranean).

As I have stated before I am on Turn 31 and I have ALL my turns saved. I am also still on verion 1.00.00 (as I just didint' want to patch during a learning game).

Can you go back to a save and rerun the turn and have the same base change again? If you can, then yes absolutely we could use the save. We've had a few reports of this but have no idea yet what is changing the airbase. Having a repeatable case would really help out. You can post the saves here, or send them to 2by3@2by3games.com. Please indicate what base is switching. If we can catch it in the act than it will be much easier to fix.

dereck -> RE: Airbase ownership changes automatically (12/29/2014 11:16:44 PM)

I seem to be able to repeat it with at least two bases.

I am still running 1.00.00 (I just didn't want to upgrade during a game). Is that going to be a problem or do you want the saves anyways?

Joel Billings -> RE: Airbase ownership changes automatically (12/30/2014 1:06:51 AM)

I can run them with the latest and see. If they repeat for you with 1.00.00, I can probably get them to repeat with the latest, so do please send them. Thanks.

dereck -> RE: Airbase ownership changes automatically (12/30/2014 11:36:15 PM)

Feb 12, 1944 - Netheravon US Air Base assigned to IX Troop Carrier Command
Feb 12, 1944 - Hawkinge BR Air Base assigned to RAF Fighter Command

dereck -> RE: Airbase ownership changes automatically (12/30/2014 11:37:28 PM)

Feb 19, 1944 - Netheravon US Air Base now assigned to 9th US Air Force
Feb 19, 1944 - Hawkinge BR Air Base now assigned to 9th US Air Base

Balou -> RE: Airbase ownership changes automatically (1/7/2015 8:55:00 AM)

Very similar story under 1.00.08.

Joel Billings -> RE: Airbase ownership changes automatically (1/7/2015 4:29:39 PM)

Thanks, that's the first save I've gotten that allows me to duplicate the HQ change bug. I hope it duplicates for Gary so he can finally fix this.

Joel Billings -> RE: Airbase ownership changes automatically (1/8/2015 2:45:37 AM)

Gary found the code that was doing that and it will be fixed in the next patch.

Mickrocks201 -> RE: Airbase ownership changes automatically (1/20/2015 10:17:50 PM)

Still seeing this problem after installing 1.0.11, Seems to happen less frequently but my changes have reverted back.

Joel Billings -> RE: Airbase ownership changes automatically (1/20/2015 11:02:56 PM)

We could really use a repeatable case with a save. Can you go back to a save and rerun and see if the airbase changes. If so, please attach the save here or send it to 2by3@2by3games.com. Thanks.

ratprince -> RE: Airbase ownership changes automatically (1/21/2015 12:37:18 AM)

Yes, please god fix this...heheh.... [:)]

Mickrocks201 -> RE: Airbase ownership changes automatically (1/23/2015 4:33:20 AM)

Ok, was able to reproduce from the enclosed sav file. Here is what I did:

1) I closed the Auto Air directive Creation screen by 'X'ing it.
2) Checked the Air Groups CR - unmatched HQs - there were none.
3) I clicked the AI (auto air directive) button from the tool bar and pressed execute without any other changes
4) Checked the Air Groups CR - unmatched HQs and found 6 groups at Hawkinge now unmatched

I tried it several times and was able to recreate. I tried execution from the Auto AD screen that first popped up when I opened the saved game and the unmatched HQs did NOT show up. So it seems to be originating from the AI button in the toolbar.

Joel Billings -> RE: Airbase ownership changes automatically (1/23/2015 3:36:29 PM)

I followed your instructions as best I could but Hawkinge remained attached to RAF Ftr Command. I received another save game with airbase switching, but it didn't repeat for me. In this case the player said he thought the airbases changed command attachment during the execution phase, not the logistics phase, so there must be another way they are switching that is unpredictable and still out there.

Mickrocks201 -> RE: Airbase ownership changes automatically (1/23/2015 3:52:03 PM)

you ran this against a fresh 1.00.11 install?

Joel Billings -> RE: Airbase ownership changes automatically (1/23/2015 4:40:20 PM)

Actually I'm using a 1.00.13. I'll look to see if I have a 1.00.11 to run it on.

David Chandler -> RE: Airbase ownership changes automatically (1/25/2015 1:25:06 AM)

I'm getting murdered with automatic air base changes, mainly involving Ninth Air Force and 2nd Tactical. I figured this will be fixed eventually, so I haven't complained. But what really concerns me is that I'm running 1.00.08, which I thought was the latest version. Everyone else seems to be running 1.00.11 or 1.00.13, which I cannot find. When I use the search for upgrade feature it reloads 1.00.08. Sigh, the rest of the world seems to be leaving me behind. This must be how those Gladiator pilots felt during the Battle of Britain, wondering why they were stuck with biplanes while everybody else had a Hurricane or a Spit. Oh well, I could be stuck with a Defiant, I guess...

David Chandler -> RE: Airbase ownership changes automatically (1/25/2015 2:37:09 AM)

Thanks! The new Spits are here!

Mickrocks201 -> RE: Airbase ownership changes automatically (1/25/2015 3:00:42 PM)

I am strongly suspecting it is related to using the AI Auto Air Directive button. I have been checking the CR Air screen for unmatched status before and after any air phase. As long as I managed my AD's manually, no problem. But after I stood down the 8th and 9th and RAF in Britain for bad weather, the next turn I used the AI Auto AD Button to kickstart my air missions. I checked the CR and, sure enough, Hawkinge changed ownership. I will continue to test this in additional turns, but would suggest that the focus be on what the AI Auto AD processing is doing.

It can be manged by using the CR Air screen at the beginning and end of the Air Directive phase and either changing the base ownership back - or moving the groups/squadrons out of the offending base.

So far I have not noticed any base ownership changes happening during the air execution phase, only the Auto AD phase.

Joel Billings -> RE: Airbase ownership changes automatically (1/25/2015 7:05:58 PM)

So it's not happening in the execution phase, you think it is happening during the planning phase when you use the auto AD creation mechanism?
