It is not very clear for me what is difference doing paradrop at night or day.So far I have almoust always done para drops at day without any problems.

EDIT: I mean non amphib support paradrops manual says that amhibious paradrops are always done at night.

More casualties would be my first guess from dropping at night, and less interceptors to stop the transports. I'm not sure if the scatter rules make night jumps worse.

Manual states that night jumps are more dangerous, which means higher attrition on the paratroopers.

Day drop: you might miss the island and land in the sea
Night drop: you might miss the continent and land in the sea

Amen to that.

Nothing like being the 1st man at the door and having the jump master lean back in, look at me and say "I can't see $H1T, sir!". Green light.... "Stand in the doorGO. I went.

Same thing happened in low clouds. To the word. Different JM.

Given that, we practiced at night because that's how we'd go for real. Night, clouds, no moon, if possible.

I actually went and tested dropping at night and day couple of times. It seem that nighttime drops cause a lot more your troop elements go damaged than day drop. So it is basicly question of witch is more worse get shot down by axis fighters or losing troops at night drop.

I dont know about scatter both day and night scattered but I only tested it couple of times.

My guess is that as long as "some" paratroopers made it to their assigned target and caused enough commotion behind enemy lines, it was considered worth it.....

Arhem was different, because they didn't expect nearly the kind of opposition they found there. And of course, the weather in England screwing things up with the landing schedules.

Paratroops I use mainly to block off an area, or to slow down units headed to the beaches. I have other uses for them, but if you can't relieve them or supply them by sea in a turn or two, you've just lost -25vps, or close to it.
