Semachus -> question on gound losses... (3/4/2003 2:48:08 AM)

Hello...a friend and I have been gaming scenario 17 now (3 day turns) using the version 2.20. Now recently over a three day period I lost (as the IJN player) 6,000 men due to air attacks.
Now I can see perhaps (or even maybe) when one is strafing with 100 plus aircraft...but when 9 planes are attacking...the total lost is 565,.....and over 2700 men were lost to 52 fighters and fighterbombers....
Now I did check...they have supplies...but the support number is very low. Now with the support number being low I can see enemy ground troops doing this damage..but enemy aircraft? Any thoughts or opinions?

Here is the text of the combat reports:

I have always thought that UV ground losses by air were excessive but I don't know if the new patch addresses this.

Mr.Frag -> (3/4/2003 4:29:29 AM)

Did you actually loose that many or was it a fog of war thing?

There was mention in Joel's notes about a fix to the reporting of excessive ground troops lost...

Semachus -> (3/4/2003 4:57:44 AM)

Hello,
Umm, I wish it was a fog or war thing......(sigh). I had checked the units at Bia were at about 15,200 souls...then three days later when I checked after those horrific losses (Rambo anyone?)...I was down to about 9,500 men....

Raverdave -> (3/4/2003 1:42:15 PM)

Yup, this is one of the outstanding things that still need to be fixed....this should be in the bug forum.

The new patch tries to fix it, but I can't say if we've done enough yet in this area. I have found that fortifications make all the difference in avoiding losses from the air attacks.

Raverdave -> (3/4/2003 2:36:24 PM)

Well thats good to hear that the Patch has gone some way towards a fix.

Now there's a shocker :D

Who would have ever thought that being surrounded by concrete & sandbags would keep you alive? ;)

Sometimes we tend to ignore the obvious.
