MisterBoats -> A few questions about doctrines and directives (12/31/2014 9:59:08 PM)

If an air doctrine is set to 20% minimum to fly, and 100% for aircraft assignment for bombers and escorts, I take that to mean that:

-- The mission will proceed if 20% of the aircraft can fly

-- As near to 100% of the available bombers as possible will participate

-- As near to 100% of escorts will participate.

Am I wrong?

Also, when Bomber Command's doctrine is set to day only, and all of its aircraft are set to day only, is there any reason why they won't fly daytime missions?

Thanks.

Air directive would have to be a day mission as well.

20% min to fly is for each squadron must have 20 percent ready in order to participate.

100 percent is the base number that the computer thinks to use on mission. if you want more A/c on the mission raise this to 200 or more. same with escorts

Thanks, Baelfin. I've been running the intro air scenario several times to get it all sorted out. I appreciate your info.

One thing I forgot to do was to set the air groups to day only missions. Bomber Command's dpoctrine as already set, but the groups remained on night only. I should have figured that out sooner.

ok
Obviously I am lost with this..
how can I set a number fo higher than 100% obviously one can but what does that actually mean.. this is a real question....
IE
out of 1300 planes 60 make the squadron percentage cut....that would be 780
then multiply by 100 is 680... so my logic is in error here as 200 of 680 if 680 is the totallity of the field still is 680 ?
I am lost
thanks you
and
have not bought nor read manual

im not sure I have a frame of reference to understand your question 8)

I finally got everything straightened out. I realize how vague my original question was, also. I did not have my directives in line with my doctrines -- rookie mistake. Too many aircraft were set for night attacks, while the doctrine had been set to days. A few other oversights, as well. I played the intro air scenario until I achieved victory, and now things are much better. This is one reason why I love Grigsby's games -- you work for your knowledge in every aspect of each game. WITP/AE took me months to understand. I'm still working on getting the Japanese production systems into good shape.

Huh?

Math - nothing is cleaner than true math while nothing is worse to understand than bad math . . .

sorry
lets try again:
""Air directive would have to be a day mission as well.

the quote refers to 200% ... very confusing

Baelfiin -> RE: A few questions about doctrines and directives (1/1/2015 11:29:46 PM)

ok so computer wants to use X amount of aircraft for a mission.

you set your mission percentage to 200 percent in the doctrine screen and the computer will try to use 2x instead.
