on all my carrier planes it says attached to: Independent. Do I assign them to an air group? If I do which do I assign them to? Also if I want to put more planes on a carrier, like the Saratoga in sandiego, I will have more planes than the capacity allowed. Should I do this or not. Thanks kip.

No real reason to worry about who the squadron is attached to.

You can go 15% beyond the official capacity of the carrier without any issues.

Also a 5 squadron limit for operations. More than 5 and no flight operations are possible.

When the overcapacity number shows as orange flight ops are still possible.

When it turns red FO are not possible.

Thanks this helps

Don't ever waste PP by switching HQ. The only time it is necessary is when you want to change a restricted HQ to non restricted. PP are very precious and you never seem to have enough.

Changing from Independent to something else is actually free, I think.

You want to leave your carrier units Independent. As others said, don't waste PP changing HQs between unrestricted commands most of the time. On land you may want to put some aircraft into the same command to aid in coordination, but it's not an issue with carrier aircraft.

One way to max out the capacity of the carrier is to add reserve planes to those squadrons that allow it, in a location where those planes are available.
