A lot of interest remains with this game.

Free set up option would help out the games' replay ability.

Frank, I love editors too.

ulisin -> RE: New version uploaded (2/6/2015 6:40:34 PM)

Looking for the patch!
Annd then... looking for an opponent!

Full fog of war, doubtless

Agathosdaimon -> RE: New version uploaded (2/7/2015 8:57:23 AM)

the game is utterly unique and is perhaps the truest representation of operational strategy available on computer

ulisin -> RE: New version uploaded (2/7/2015 9:34:44 AM)

Yes, I agree.

altrnatives are osg-zucker games, x1 x2 etc campaign, or campaign rules for miniatures, i think.
But I have no time and no space for them

Agathosdaimon -> RE: New version uploaded (2/7/2015 12:17:18 PM)

likewise, if i had teh money, time space and community to battle with i would be all for napoleonic miniatures

ulisin -> RE: New version uploaded (2/7/2015 1:02:43 PM)

True
Playing with miniatures is the best
I'VE a xv century ottoman turks+serbian ally army - 15 mm .... wonderful, and very exciting to play with

But now... moneys are a problem, time to play and paint them is a problem, space is a problem too.

FrankHunter -> RE: New version uploaded (2/8/2015 12:41:55 AM)

RCH, if there's anything you or anyone else would like to see in an editor for these games, let me know.

ulisin -> RE: New version uploaded (2/8/2015 9:08:12 AM)

I would have new scenarios and new theatres of operation!
italy
elbe
etc

RCHarmon -> RE: New version uploaded (2/8/2015 9:25:19 PM)

Frank,

Your 1806 game had an editor. That was a great editor. It would be nice to be able to edit games that were already in play, but I don't know how it would be kept honest in a pbem game.

FrankHunter -> RE: New version uploaded (2/9/2015 1:23:30 AM)

I don't even remember my 1806 editor... :)

I could protect PBEM games by simply checking to see if it is a PBEM game.

RCHarmon -> RE: New version uploaded (2/9/2015 4:23:10 AM)

If this helps here are some screen shots

RCHarmon -> RE: New version uploaded (2/9/2015 4:33:15 AM)

And some more

Agathosdaimon -> RE: New version uploaded (2/9/2015 8:40:09 AM)

wow, I have that 1806 game but did not check out the editor - very cool, with all the possibilities it could open up - perhaps through an editor alone one could create the 1807 campaign even - and with the possibility of adding one own maps? one could proceed to create the penisular war and russian campaign too?

RCHarmon -> RE: New version uploaded (2/9/2015 2:54:07 PM)

The editor manipulates existing armies, divisions, corps. It doesn't create new armies, divisions, corps. The maps I have no idea. The editor does nothing to support new maps.

Frank, could we get a few screen shots and maybe a look at the new battle system if possible? Not meaning to take up your limited time.

FrankHunter -> RE: New version uploaded (2/9/2015 7:52:30 PM)

You mean for the new Elbe game? I don't have any new graphics, just my handmade test maps. I also have ones for Poland and Spain.

At the moment the new version of Danube is the engine for Elbe. Which means the existing battle system. I'm doing this to cut way down on development and testing time since its been so long since Elbe was supposed to come out.

As far as an editor that did what the old 1806 editor allowed, I can certainly do that and allow for new forces. But the new scenarios would have to use existing maps and if played solitaire, existing AI.

RCHarmon -> RE: New version uploaded (2/9/2015 9:08:34 PM)

If new forces could be created then that would be a big bonus.

Also, if a gaming club was using your game could the editor be used during pbem games. Maybe, an option that the feature could be made available or shut down depending on the users themselves when the pbem game is created?

All sounds good Frank. I will be waiting.

Elbe, Poland and Spain, excited to see how they develop, can't wait. [:)]

Agathosdaimon -> RE: New version uploaded (2/9/2015 10:36:10 PM)

i am curious, how does the AI function in the game? ie i presume it is not scripted? could one have an AI functioning on a Poland map ? the 1807 campaign along with the 1813 period is one i am most interested in

RCHarmon -> RE: New version uploaded (2/13/2015 2:13:43 AM)

Agathosdaimon -> RE: New version uploaded (2/19/2015 11:19:41 PM)
