• Don't land any more unprepared units.
• What base force? You landed a base force? [X(]

zuluhour -> RE: To Young to Die, To Old to Rock and Roll (3/5/2016 5:31:16 PM)

Yes sir.
Landed the 41st base force with the 31st Division. I try and land support with every landing. If I understand it right, even if I get the two
armor units ashore ok, I will still be forced to shock. I do not relish that scenario so I am trying to reduce/disrupt the garrison. Two
BB TFs are inbound. I am not in a rush per se as the taking of Kavieng is number one priority for the week. The garrison there is currently
facing one division with a HQ, another Inf division, and some armor on the march from Namatanai. Not sure how to proceed at Nauru if the 31st
does not recover quickly.

witpqs -> RE: To Young to Die, To Old to Rock and Roll (3/5/2016 6:10:50 PM)

Units that land are forced to shock attack. The only time that extends to units already ashore is when an additional part (fragment, parent) of the unit lands.

If the division can defend itself, why land additional unprepared units?

witpqs -> RE: To Young to Die, To Old to Rock and Roll (3/5/2016 6:12:25 PM)

BTW, you might try dividing the division and see if the net recovery rate is faster.

witpqs -> RE: To Young to Die, To Old to Rock and Roll (3/5/2016 6:13:05 PM)

But do get more supply ashore! You can land just supply, not required to land troops with it.

witpqs -> RE: To Young to Die, To Old to Rock and Roll (3/5/2016 6:13:25 PM)

Was that too many replies in a row? Sorry. [:'(]

zuluhour -> RE: To Young to Die, To Old to Rock and Roll (3/5/2016 6:30:11 PM)

[:D]
I was wondering about landing more supply, do you think if I attach landing craft gun boats they will discharge their
canons in the general direction of the Imperials?

Shore guns will certainly shoot at supply deliveries, so having some protection in the TF is a great idea.

It has been my experience that if you are not landing troops, the landing craft gun boats do not seem to fire. Maybe others have a different experience.

Let those escorts bombard as well! No real CD threat at Nauru.

Someone else said that letting the escorts bombard cuts down on the time available for the big guns to do so. I changed my settings based on that and I do notice that my bombardments seem to be a bit more effective and the big ships come home with fewer shells in their magazines.

zuluhour -> RE: To Young to Die, To Old to Rock and Roll (3/6/2016 6:25:53 PM)

two more BB TFs inbound, along with the supply. We are at 70+ av now

Moulmein - Are you able to use a CA/CL bases bombardment TF at Rangoon to hit his base almost daily?? Get his disruption up high enough here like you seem to be doing at Nauru Island and the base will be yours soon enough.

zuluhour -> RE: To Young to Die, To Old to Rock and Roll (3/13/2016 1:43:00 PM)

The Royal Navy is at sea. The TF is three days out from Colombo heading to Diamond harbor for fuel and a rendezvous with a large supply TF from Cape Town, recently arrived at Calcutta. They will escort the merchants into Rangoon and commence the reduction of the coastal IJA positions. I wish I had some AKE in the Indian Ocean. The ahistorical R&D is a difficult nut. Air superiority is costing me dearly.

zuluhour -> RE: To Young to Die, To Old to Rock and Roll (3/13/2016 4:11:21 PM)

more shots from yesterday, most all RAF squadrons in the CBI are flying these now. One squadron has begun to fill out with P47s and one LBA squadron is flying
Corsairs, which have been mauled by Franks every time they have flown sweeps.

I hope that wasn't your combat engineer unit that was destroyed on Nauru!

zuluhour -> RE: To Young to Die, To Old to Rock and Roll (3/20/2016 1:44:25 PM)

I think it was an amphibious tank unit, the 110th withdraws (I think) and barely made the show. The good news, Kavieng falls on the 27th of May, the bad news,
Lars managed to evacuate the place first. Three hundred odd defenders are crushed under two heavily reinforced divisions. This little evacuation was under the nose of major ASW and surface units. FOOLED again!

ny59giants -> RE: To Young to Die, To Old to Rock and Roll (3/20/2016 3:24:36 PM)

If your CVs are just off shore, then set 20 to 30% for LRCAP over base to slow down transport planes bring in or evac of troops.
