Tejszd -> Windows 10 Supported? (1/24/2015 4:33:33 PM)

Is Matrix testing the Close Combat games on Windows 10?

Microsoft is pushing it hard as they announced users of Win7 and Win8 can upgrade for free in the 1st year of Win10 release which is in this year....

SteveMcClaire -> RE: Windows 10 Supported? (1/27/2015 9:40:53 PM)

I am currently focused on Bloody First development, but I expect we will evaluate Windows 10 compatibility for existing games later in the year.

Hello Tejszd,

I had done a portion of testing the catalogue on Windows 10, and had encountered no issues. I believe I tested Cross of Iron and I certainly tested Gateway to Caen and had no issues (other than the normal issues such as having to run the earlier games in Windowed Mode). But as they are still continuously updating Windows 10, so there is not much of a reason to be testing Windows 10 on all games yet. When they are closer to release we will begin working through all the games and checking that they work with Windows 10, but I had not found any issues with any of the games I tested.

Tejszd -> RE: Windows 10 Supported? (8/6/2015 2:43:18 AM)

Had to set the older Close Combat games to run in a window otherwise the colors were wrong....

The 800x600 menus are really small in a window with a desktop resolution of 1920x1200 especially as they were displayed at double the resolution 1600x1200 automatically on my system when running full screen....

Only the last releases Close Combat Gateway to Caen & Close Combat Panthers in the Fog work correctly full screen under Windows 10....

Having to run in windowed mode was previously identified for Windows 8.x for the older titles and never addressed;

"Windows 8 requires Windowed Mode (can't run full screen)"

Tejszd -> RE: Windows 10 Supported? (8/6/2015 2:58:26 AM)

The game menus not using 800x600 was previously identified with CC LSA and never addressed;

800x600 game screens use 1024x768 resolution

SteveMcClaire -> RE: Windows 10 Supported? (8/6/2015 6:54:44 PM)

The Windowed Mode requirement for Windows 8+ while running in 16-bit color mode is a result of something Microsoft changed in Windows / DirectX. We have investigated work-arounds but there does not appear to be a simple one.

The 1024x768 minimum resolution for LSA is not a bug, as stated in the original thread. The game's product info states that this is the minimum resolution. That isn't to say we may not address it if there's a compelling reason, but it's not a bug.

Tested CC5 Close Combat Invasion Normandy which was code released in the year 2000, which all the Matrix re-releases but COI & CCMT are built on, works fine full screen on Windows 10??? [X(]

With higher and higher resolution monitors coming out and with no way to run full screen any longer under Windows 8, 8.1 or 10 for WAR, TLD and LSA the fixed 800x600 menu screens are getting smaller and harder to read. Could not the option be added when running in windowed mode to double the menu graphic size to 1600x1200 if the screen resolution supports it?

Possibly. The graphics in the old engine are not very flexible and I can think of several issues with doing this off the top of my head. The time and resources for evaluating it are unlikely to be available until after The Bloody First comes out.

I can understand that Matrix wants the next revenue source but I will not be buying The Bloody First until after the original games get looked at again....

Platoon_Michael -> RE: Windows 10 Supported? (9/18/2015 5:19:45 AM)

So yea I'm now under the category of a Windows 10 user.
I have a 36" monitor but the game will only load in windowed mode and the size of that window is as if I was playing on a 10" monitor.
If I don't load it in Windowed mode the graphics are all fouled up.

Is there a way to get it to go full screen?

My PC Specs

The only difference is I went with a Samsung 32" monitor

I payed the full price back when WAR came out...it wasn't a beta testers freebie

11Hotel -> RE: Windows 10 Supported? (8/9/2016 2:49:24 AM)

Can anyone that has gotten Invasion Normandy to work on Windows 10 please tell me what, if any, command line switches they are using to run it in windowed mode?

I have Windows10 64bit, installed to a seperate drive, but still get nothing when I try to run it.

SteveMcClaire -> RE: Windows 10 Supported? (12/5/2016 6:16:57 PM)

Zakblood has done some Windows 10 compatibility summaries for all the CC products. See the individual game forums for his report on issues and how to resolve them.

Thanks zakblood!

Steve

zakblood -> RE: Windows 10 Supported? (8/12/2017 6:00:36 AM)

your welcome, in the process of doing them all again and see if the creators update has altered any settings, if anyone is having any difficulty with any, please pm me and i can walk you through it or re post some newer info to help out on windows 10, any version or game tbh

Q.M -> RE: Windows 10 Supported? (8/20/2017 11:07:14 PM)

Hi Steve, Darren, David. Long time no see.

Any further word on Win10 compatibility yet with the originals and mods?

Had to upgrade from my old XP which had ALL my old games, mods and all the testing stuff, so I'm either stuck betwixt a rock and a hard place or I can only move forward with future releases.

Regards

zakblood -> RE: Windows 10 Supported? (8/21/2017 4:40:31 AM)

if a given mod wants testing, i don't mind doing some

http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4330532&mpage=1&key=

done a few already, just need pointing to the mod and on what version it worked for and i'll do some windows 10 tests on it, and post results

The only issue with Windows 10 is if you play WaR, TLD, or LSA on Windows 10 you need to play in windowed mode, not full screen. You can set your windowed display size to your full screen size and get effectively the same thing, however. This is due to Windows 10 changes to the way DirectX full screen 16-bit color works.

biggunguy -> RE: Windows 10 Supported? (1/8/2018 2:28:44 PM)

Is it the same for windows 7? I have a cd of CC2 , but it won’t even launch , an error message occurs. Can you actually launch in windows mode or is that an option you chose once the game is launched ? Or can it not be played on windows 7?

zakblood -> RE: Windows 10 Supported? (1/8/2018 3:36:12 PM)

it can be played on win 7 same as win 10, just need some files added to it, which it does have on it's own

biggunguy -> RE: Windows 10 Supported? (1/8/2018 4:20:18 PM)

What files ? Where do I get them and how do,I add them?

biggunguy -> RE: Windows 10 Supported? (1/8/2018 5:31:19 PM)

FYI I did try the different compatibility modes for different windows versions and did lower screen resolution as well. Noth8ng works

zakblood -> RE: Windows 10 Supported? (1/8/2018 7:31:36 PM)

extra files needed for win 10 can be

[image]local://upfiles/43185/05C76D59123A48269F65E8FF0224E6A6.jpg[/image]

which isn't enabled by default and some older games need it

zakblood -> RE: Windows 10 Supported? (1/8/2018 7:32:31 PM)

disable the

[image]local://upfiles/43185/ADBF9CBF98CD46738EF3E1C6B7FDAE44.jpg[/image]

which can effect some older games from running correctly also

zakblood -> RE: Windows 10 Supported? (1/8/2018 7:34:06 PM)

makes sure you install all the pre requisites that the game needs to run with, what ever it is and no matter how old etc

[image]local://upfiles/43185/4FBDA26E45F54C68AB92F862F59D2655.jpg[/image]

matters little if you have DirectX 12 on your pc if the game needs V9.0c etc, as none of them are backwards compatible either, so if a game needs 8, 9, 10, or 11 on windows 10, install it, it's that simple
