Gavris Narcis -> Crew problem (4/2/2001 8:43:00 PM)

I have another question: What message tell me that in my tank a crew member (or many) have died after a penetrated shot but the others still stay in tank and continue (of course with morale penalties). In other words, after so shots it is not necessary to bail out the entire crew, isn't it ? Leo.

When your tank/vehicle is hit and the message says "[TURRET] damaged***" or similar, each * indicates a system onboard has been knocked out. These can be, but are not always, crew casualties. If you know how many men the tank started with, then check the unit info after such a hit, you may see the crew has been reduced. If you bail the crew, the unit info will also show how many men are left from the original number.

But at least one member of the crew of a tank isn't in turret ! You guess it is the driver which is protected not by turret armor but the hull armor ! In this case how the game simulate for example the dead of the driver but the rest of the crew still alive ? Is the game so accurate to simulate this ? I confesed that I don't know this ! Do you know ? Thank you for response. Leo. If you bail the crew, the unit info will also show how many men are left from the original number.

No we don't model the positions of teh crewmen, but assume some degree of crossfunctionality, ie just because the driver is killed the tank is not immobilized as one of the other crew is assumed to drive if the tank is still mobile. Shots do go down as crew is killed to show less aggregate capability. Specifics of what each crew member is doing are not considered. That is the level of detail of a tank sim like Panzer Commander. There is also an occasional bug where a "partial crew" bails out and some stay in the tank. We have reduced teh occurances of this, but the logic bomb that causes this is still not fully unraveled... Think of it as a few of the "dispersed troops" from other units have cowered on the tank for protection and finally have been remotivated to fight ;)

Hi Paul ! You must put this ''crew amplasament model'' in a tank ! Because if the driver is killed the tank get immobillised (unless the driver is in the turret together with others ???? was this kind of tanks ? I don't no !). In this case (driver killed and if the others haven't any possibilities to reach driver position from inside) it is imperious to make anothers calculations to attempt bail out one member of the crew and replace the driver. The same things if all turret members is killed and the player want to make the tank immobile by replacing the gunner with driver for firing purposes. The movement can be succesfull or unsuccesfull. If it is unsuccesful the crew take casualties (normal, isn't so ? and very real). This depending on experience, enemy opportunity fire (because this, it is highly indicated to do this as ''last movement'' of the turn). And we can speak about this. That's Paul, but not only..... I want to help you to make this game the best militaro-strategical game ever created; even a training metod for the Army !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Best regards, Leo P.S. I want to provide you with real old romanian units photo (WWII and not only) because a lot of descriptions haven't or aren't accurate at all.

And we appreciate it, we must live with limitations of the game in general and our resources to change it! Your comments are always appreciated! IF you have photos we can use send them! SEveral folks have sent many good photos, like Frank Uhr and while we can't always use then all right now, rest assured that they will not got waste!!!

Hi Leo, if you have any photo's that could be added to the game, feel free to send them to me by email (below) They won't make the 5.0 release though, but might be in the next patch. Thanks, Patrick nullbumper@cyberbump.tmfweb.nl
