emeralis00 -> Multiple unhandled exceptions [1.9.5.10] (2/15/2015 3:07:29 AM)

Hello,
When I try to start a new game using the Distant Worlds Original Theme, an exception occurs about an array out of bounds, index. Switching to ancient galaxy theme works just fine, as does starting a new game. Attempting to switch back to default throws another exception about an invalid parameter. I have no mods at all, this is a fresh install, and all files were verified. There are no crash dumps in the appropriate folder.

I can otherwise play a normal game to completion using the default. I've searched for solutions already but found none. I've attached the provided error info given by the warning message.

I would hazard a guess that something is wrong with one of the files over-ridden by the Ancient Galaxy Theme. My best suggestion would be to reinstall and see if that solves it.

I've tried that. Unfortunately, Doesn't work and produces the same errors, in both cases.

You'll probably need to go into the app data folder for DW and manually delete the automationPrefs and DefaultOptions files.

Then try starting a new game, it may fix it, as the game will regenerate those two files when start the game.

I just tried that, no change.

Hi emeralis00

From your description and error messages there is definitely a problem with either your installation (missing or incorrect files) or some modding issue.

Typically you can resolve a modding screwup by exiting DW and then deleting the following two files:
C:\Users\[YOURUSERNAME]\Documents\My Games\Distant Worlds Universe\automationPrefs
C:\Users\[YOURUSERNAME]\Documents\My Games\Distant Worlds Universe\defaultOptions

The first error message indicates that you have either an incorrect race file or an incorrect resources.txt file. So it may be worth trying a reinstall.

Thanks
Elliot
