Hi, when you start playing a scenario are the LCU's located as historical did?

Great Game!!

First off, it depends on the scenario. Some mods are designed as 'what-if' scenarios and so would vary more from history than scenarios that are intended to be historical (like the stock scenarios and the 'Da Babes' scenarios).

As far as the stock scenarios and the Babes scenarios go, yes, as much as they could. First off there are an enormous number of units to get placed correctly and some errors will occur no matter what you want, second there are many times limited information and some times conflicting information about where units were at a given time. The more you see questions, answers, and newly found sources of information posted on this forum the more you appreciate just how vast the effort is. And last is that the game system itself requires a compromise here and there to get things working as accurately as possible (as opposed to merely looking as accurate as possible).

Short answer: 'yes'.

Ok thanks for your answer!

The AE data people went to great lengths to try and make the OOB and locations as accurate as possible. A few errors still crept in (many were corrected with updates) and there were some things that couldn't be resolved. For example a lot of details about the Chinese army have never been documented in any language. Some details about the Japanese have only been written about in Japanese and the team got some documents translated. I wasn't involved on that end of the project, but as I understand it, some of the data that went into the game on the Japanese side was from the first translation into English of those sources.

The official scenarios that say they are historical are probably far more accurate that most games your going to find.

The Australian Army locations are far from accurate, this was done to aid the AI. The game also has a "Port Moresby Brigade" which does not exist in real life.

I believe the the rest was as accurate as is possible within constraints mentioned above.

To create a game on this scale with this level of detail, some compromises had to be made to get it all to work, especially with the AI. The force levels are as close to reality as possible, even if the exact units are a bit different.

There's over 47,000 individual entries in the OOB files. Most of them are pretty good. Some people have found some grits in them. Babes scenarios tries to accommodate them as best we can. Game/AI needs to have certain things defined in certain ways. So it goes.

The OOB in game, is evolving, and is likely far beyond any OOB you have ever seen. We use original Japanese sources and try our best to put them where they were, when they were there. There's always room for grits, but the developers; Kereguelen, AndyMac, Joel Szabat, Tim Tom, Ian, James Armstrong, Don Bowen, JWE, Justin Prince, terminus, Nik, JoeW, did the best they could. I think we could hold our own against anyone.

Oh, Yes. Please tell us just how wrong we are, and tell us where and how (book cites, not internet nonsense). We are always looking for truth ... Ciao. JWE
