nardiajn -> Tracker problem with save game file (3/3/2015 1:01:40 AM)

Hi -
Attempting to use tracker for the first time ever..
and had to make a few mods (Windows 8)
(see attached error log)
file is wpae005.pws
my witptracker.properties.txt file

# WitPTracker AE properties file
# Directory of the game
Dir=[C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\]
# Type of game. 0=AI, 1=PBEM
GameType=[1]
# Side you are playing. 0=Japan, 1=Allies
Side=[1]
# Password. Only needed for PBEM
Password=[xxxx]
# Name of the base save file
SaveFile=[wpae005.pws]
# Mode the program will look for save files.
# 0 = just in the local folder
# 1 = just in the game folder: [Dir]/SAVE
# 2 = local and then if not found there, the game folder
SaveMode=[2]
# Text to put in the header of the main window
Header=[wpae005]
# Turn cycle (days per turn). 1 or 2 are supported
TurnCycle=[1]

any ideas ? seems to me I have the correct name.. path, etc..
but perplexed as to the error...
is this the issue with an incorrect path ?
ERROR: Save game file "C:\Matrix Games\WITP Tracker\wpae005.pws" (if save file is in save folder is that the issue)

thanks in advance
Al

Check for pwsdll.dll in the tracker directory. Copy over the one from the game directory (or if using the beta, from the beta directory) to the tracker directory.

Hi Michael -
I tried that.. same exact error..
path name to start game (Beta version)
"C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition"

still pulling my hair out...

am no expert but you could try deleting all the "trackerdb" files and trying again

also, what directory is the actual save file in?

FWIW, in mine I don't have the last slash (\) in the Dir line. No slash after Edition.

I've also never used SaveMode=[2]. I always move the incoming turn file directly into the Save Folder and use SaveMode-1. You might try that and see if it helps.

hmmm
no luck with the above methods.... (getting less hair on my head :) )

Save file is
C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\SAVE

Tracker is in
C:\Matrix Games\WITP Tracker\WitPTracker.bat

Did you copy wpae005.pws into your Tracker folder?

Hi
Yes I just tried that and when I did, I have a bunch of Java messages...
I will keep trying..
keep the ideas coming...
sooner or later we will have a winner :)

no worries, no shame, nardiajn.
Now that you've got Tracker working, you're in the Gold Zone.

My experience is, save & close down the game after 4 turns, then close Tracker. Re-start the game, then re-start Tracker. Running the game thru 6 or more turns will be ok, but tracker can get horked if it doesn't get closed/restarted at 4-turn intervals - especially if it don't have adequate memory assigned in its start-up line.
