Here goes another CVBG vs CVBG battle. This time, both opposing sides are on similar technological level (that means, more fun).

Background

India started year 2018 with intensive naval activity in both Indian Ocean and Arabian sea. The brief Indian incursion into littoral waters of French island Reunion was condemned by French diplomacy. Further diplomatic tension eventually resulted in two-sided embargo between France and India. Week ago, the French CVBG led by Charles De Gaulle CV left Toulon naval base and headed to Suez. INS Vikramaditya with it's escorts was ordered to head towards the Gulf Of Aden. Politics will continue by other means from now on.

This is fictional ASW / ASuW / AAW scenario with a duration of three days.


Comments, results, bug reports, etc. are as always welcome!

Looks good! Although one issue I noticed straight away is that the Indian's have radar and sonar active in the ECMON settings. Would it make more sense to have them as passive?

Hi,

It seems sort of a bit easy so far, the french rafales don't seem to engage the mig-29's unless they are very close.

Also I launched a missile strike on the french task group and they didn't launch any sams, I went back to the auto saves and switched sides to see this message repeated every second:

"10:08:39 - D621 Chevalier Paul is dropping GuidedWeapon #93 from its target list (Reason: The target is outside the unit's patrol area, and the unit is not authorize to prosecute outside the area)."

Quick, simple, straightforward, and fun.

I made good use of the sub. However, I sort of cheated - when I knew there was a helo just overhead the sub, because it just dropped a buoy directly on top of my sub, I surfaced the sub, shot down the helo and dived back. Did this twice I recall. In Command, the sub can actually fire off SAM or two and dive before first Exocet arrives. The sub was eventually sunk but not until it expended all the torpedoes, sinking two ships and probably damaging one more. The hit rate was crap because the sub got hit eventually, and had like 10% life remaining in it, and I ended up firing at kinematic ranges.

Also Rafaels probably have RoE to TIGHT and did not attack me fast enough. If they were set to weapons free (engage unknown side contacts), that would be more problematic, I'd say much more.

Rafaels have been fixed several times now and should perform better [:D]

Well, that's indeed quite gamey tactics regarding the sub-launched SAMs.

I used the latest version of the scenario, as in "downloaded three hours ago" latest. Still looks like there is a problem of balancing AI vs. human player. I am supposed to confirm the target is hostile before firing. So is AI. That looks equal, but I declare aircraft hostile by the fact they have FCRs active. Reasoning that there are no neutral air forces I'm aware of, airliners don't have fire control radars, therefore any unit other than my own which has FCR active must be hostile. So I shoot first. Rafales still have to close in to confirm me as enemy. So if French side is not supposed to be playable, and there are no civilian air traffic, it would be more effective (and probably more realistic) to tune them more aggressive.

I just started to play this scenario and I too experienced peace-loving Rafales which don't want to fight back. I checked in the editor and it seems like, for some reason, their OODA loop is very long (i.e ~650 seconds). Not sure if this is bug or by design, but it seems weird. I can't post links yet but please do check how it works in your case.

Rebuilt, fixed, tested (and i think finished). Mirages are doing quite good job against MIGs now and scenario became quite hard [;)]

Whoa this one is tough. Still straightforward, but I ended up using SAMs against the last enemy ship. Triumph 2550. By the time I finished, I was out of Kryptons, missing 7 MiGs, and missing five or so helos which I spent as Rafalebait. Also because I did not have air domination, enemy sank my sub early. I will probably have to try this another time for a different strategy :)

Figured it; destroyed everything except a sub for a loss of three Fulcrums. Score 3050 :)
