ShockoPopper -> Just got a new PC... (3/23/2015 12:12:58 AM)

I have registered the game, but can't seem to find any reference to re-downloading it from Matrix website to my new machine. Can I just copy-paste onto a backup drive to move it over?

Cheers,

Shocko

I know that the installation process does put things in the Windows Registry. You can copy it to multiple folders within the same machine, but you have to first do the official installation on the machine so the stuff saying the serial number is valid is there for it to check when it starts.

Don't you have the original download file on your old PC, or did you make a backup DVD?

No, unfortunately I canned the original download - it was a few months ago. Didn't anticipate the old PC crapping out - the PCI-e bus went under. I got 3 years out of a $600 Gateway, so I guess I asked for it? Sounds like there's no recourse but to pay for the game again. Dagnabbit.

From what I have heard they keep your download active for at least a year so you should be able ot just get back in the same way you got in the first time. If it was longer ago, contact their Customer Support and they might be able to help (you still have your serial number and maybe purchase information, right?).

You may have to write Matrix tech support. I believe some other people in the past have done that when they needed to download it again. It would be a good idea to make a back up of the downloaded file along with your serial number so you can install it on another computer (or a reinstall on the same computer) if you need to.
