Erik Rutins -> Operation Torch Announced and recruiting Testers! (3/23/2015 7:30:10 PM)

Alongside today's new WITW update, we are very happy to announce that an expansion of the base game focused on the attempts of the Allies to open a second front in Europe prior to Overlord is now ready to enter the beta phase! And we ask players to help us test it by enlisting for the beta here.

The Operation Torch Product Page can be found here.

Lictuel -> RE: Operation Torch Announced and recruiting Testers! (3/23/2015 8:05:25 PM)

There is a small problem with the description of the expansion. The first sentence of the third paragraph goes like this: "Axis forces were limited, disheartened and lacking of supply lacking supplies" either remove "lacking supplies" or "lacking of supply".

Also in the scenario descriptions:
Rommel Attacks(Feb 1943 – March 1944 – approximately 6 turns) <-- i guess that is March 1943?

Speedysteve -> RE: Operation Torch Announced and recruiting Testers! (3/23/2015 8:30:51 PM)

Also the end of the 2nd Paragraph doesn't read well "penetrated deeply into the north of Libyan territory" should probably either read "penetrated deep into north Libyan territory" OR "penetrated deeply into the north of Libya"

Just my 2p

Speedysteve -> RE: Operation Torch Announced and recruiting Testers! (3/23/2015 8:35:10 PM)

Other than that looking forward to these scenarios [:)]

Erik Rutins -> RE: Operation Torch Announced and recruiting Testers! (3/23/2015 8:39:27 PM)

Thanks guys, I've corrected those issues.

Lictuel -> RE: Operation Torch Announced and recruiting Testers! (3/23/2015 9:16:40 PM)

I really like the sound of the last scenario. Looking forward to it coming out, I won't have time to beta test sadly.

Perhaps their supplies were fine but they were critically short in those war winning 'supply lacking supplies'?

Signed up

One question, and this might be too ambitious. But is there a chance this will be like a paradox title in that the results from our Operation Torch scenario can be imported into WitW? Casualties, units strength, and maybe even starting date? It would be really nice if as the Allies you could start WitW a few turns earlier or as the Axis delay things a few turns later.

But I do realize that this would be really hard to implement. But at the very least it would be nice to have the casualties accumulated be able to import over.

I'm assuming this will eventually be the case-- the point of the new map is to eventually model the entire war, after all-- but I wouldn't be surprised if such integration is held up until the naval model is improved, i.e. it could be tough to model the Axis in North Africa with the current naval supply system in an "integrated", ETO-wide campaign.

Well, if we're going theoretical scenarios... one day, with the full map, we may get Operation Unthinkable :-)

That would be a great potential future expansion. And with two campaigns, the original Allied offensive (maybe even with the remnants of the wermacht) or the eventually decided upon plan which was defensive.

I have also said before, but a great future game would be a Korean War game. WitW and WitE already have all of the necessary equipment besides some post war aircraft. The North Korean and Chinese sides used all Soviet equipment that is already in WitE.
That is one small bit of the game done. Then from there it would be a map (no small task), OOB and scenarios (again no small task)

I think the game has decent potential sales potential since to my knowledge no modern Korean war game exists outside of the TOW scenario and some 1980s vintage PC and board games.

JocMeister -> RE: Operation Torch Announced and recruiting Testers! (3/24/2015 8:23:21 AM)

Will there be any new features/mechanics added or is this purely a scenario addon?

sh0nyu -> RE: Operation Torch Announced and recruiting Testers! (3/24/2015 12:25:58 PM)

Cool! Operation Pointblank as a air-only... [8D]

Helpless -> RE: Operation Torch Announced and recruiting Testers! (3/24/2015 2:23:40 PM)

Usually all extra features are available for the both base game and expansion, but I don't know how it will be this time. There are already some hardcoded items available for the expansion-only versions.

Speedysteve -> RE: Operation Torch Announced and recruiting Testers! (3/24/2015 4:57:16 PM)

If I had more time I'd sign up to be a tester again.....unless you feel like paying my salary and I can't quit my day job? [:)]

ultradave -> RE: Operation Torch Announced and recruiting Testers! (3/26/2015 6:04:48 PM)

I filled out the form for beta testing. I do have some time (being semi-retired).

matsi55 -> RE: Operation Torch Announced and recruiting Testers! (3/27/2015 3:58:35 AM)

Gday Pilots,
Also applied for the Beta.
But with a special interest in the Air Campaigns.
As I am in possession of the 8TH Air Forces Playbook.
I happen to have a copy of "Roger Freeman's" The Mighty Eighth
War Diary. Which is a day to day operational record of Bomb groups &
escorts and their primary and secondary targets...etc..etc.
Would like to use this to see how it Stacks up too the game.
I assume these scenarios are playable from the German side also?

Bombs away.........

RakuPL -> RE: Operation Torch Announced and recruiting Testers! (3/27/2015 6:20:02 PM)

Will it be free update like one of DLCs to W40K:A or it will have price announced later?

Joel Billings -> RE: Operation Torch Announced and recruiting Testers! (3/27/2015 6:27:02 PM)

Yes, scenarios are playable from either side.

This product will have a price (i.e. not free).

As for testing, I expect that new testers will be added to the group in about 1-2 weeks from now.

Simulacra53 -> RE: Operation Torch Announced and recruiting Testers! (6/8/2015 11:42:10 AM)

Really interested in the air campaigns, both from an offensive and defensive point of view.

Will it feature/model night fighting, flak and radar defenses?

Kronolog -> RE: Operation Torch Announced and recruiting Testers! (6/8/2015 1:31:24 PM)

Is there any information on when this expansion might be released?

Helpless -> RE: Operation Torch Announced and recruiting Testers! (6/8/2015 8:02:33 PM)

Night fighting is already modeled. There are some thoughts to make it a bit more detailed.

Hopefully later this year.

zakblood -> RE: Operation Torch Announced and recruiting Testers! (7/2/2015 3:45:11 PM)

is it worth new players like myself who have just got it to sign up for the beta to help out or do you already have enough, i test for a hobby so spend most days 8 to 10 hours a day testing some game or other, so not only have the spare time and qualifications for it with 30 years plus of IT work, but also 4 or 5 spare pc's with different hardware and o/s on them just for testing games, and a dedicated room (summer house with server, heating, fridge and 150mb cable connection)

i leave it with you and wait for a reply before signing, if i see no reply i wont sign for it, ty...

Helpless -> RE: Operation Torch Announced and recruiting Testers! (7/2/2015 5:05:09 PM)

I don't know all the internals, but usually Matrix adds testers in several runs. Usually only some limited amount are staying for the long term, so you always have a chance to get an access. I have a feeling that more testers could be required soon as release date is getting closer.

GARY L -> RE: Operation Torch Announced and recruiting Testers! (7/2/2015 6:05:14 PM)

Release Date?

When?

Helpless -> RE: Operation Torch Announced and recruiting Testers! (7/2/2015 6:21:40 PM)

Time flies when you get older. :)

zakblood -> RE: Operation Torch Announced and recruiting Testers! (7/2/2015 6:50:25 PM)

thanks Helpless, have signed up then so fingers crossed
