ORIGINAL: Orm So how have the winter been for you guys? Here it has been an easy winter so far. Not much snow. And the snow that came melted away rather quickly. And not much ice on the ground to worry about either. And, it feels like that the sun has been showing itself more as well. A couple of storms has passed by, but they hit my area lightly. Good morning! Be careful what you wish for - we had several winters in a row with snow level well below average followed by summers with rainfall well below average. Last harvest was showing signs of drought, reduced crop yields and blowing topsoil. Brings back memories of the "dirty thirties" when the breadbaskets of the USA and Canada were almost turned into deserts. This year we are getting lots of snow - and celebrating! If it melts slowly and doesn't cause massive flooding, all is good. The strange part is the up and down temperatures. Several times we have had temperatures in the -30C range then a rise within a day to around 0C for a day, followed by a plunge back to the -20 to -30C range. Crazy strong winds during the transitions. Whiteouts and snowdrifts! I am glad to be retired so I can choose when I go out!
